This is one of the best lecture on water crisis I have ever watched on KZbin. It provides a holistic perspective of the issue and more importantly provides amazing way forwards that can help making avoid water crisis.

Your podcast are always informative - The critical Analysis you do , and ask technical questions helps us to veiw the issue from different prespectives. But unfortunatelty this podcast lacks |content". Raza Farrukh lacks technical approach towards water Crisis issues.

If rain system is sufficient to cater the needs and no chance of water scarcity then why ground water is going down day by day and why different countries including Pakistan are facing water shortage.

If 69% of the Indus Basin is in Pakistan, then why Pakistan is short of water? Why water level in many regions of Pakistan is going down?
@khan55191 Жыл бұрын
bcz Pakistans is a downstream riparian...the source from which the water is coming does not fall in PAK's territory....its like the bottleneck is somewhere else

@safiya7211.Youve ask something sensible but there are different variables.Pakistan have set up a water board that have been hijacked by the army and it’s chairman and many of its members are all retired with no qualifications in water management and the army have secured some one million acres of land and it is using it for crops like sugar cane and cotton which is very water intensive ,so the board won’t do anything to stop the army making big profits.70 odd yrs after INDEPENDANCE with no land reforms,big land owners have also made their way in govt and won’t do anything to reduce their profits. Now ask yourselfIndus water treaty India gave Pakistan some 80% of the water coming from India but that was some 65 yrs ago and Pakistan population was FOUR times less than what it is today,people have been breeding like rabbits and demand is more than four times.The amount of water being released at the signing of the treaty is DECREASING and climate change is another factor.You have a system of irrigation where 40@ of water is lost in transit.Unpredictable weather and look at the number of damsPakistan have built over las t70 yrs compared to India .India,s population have also increased since the 60,s and when push comes to shove ,it is India,s goodwill following of terrorist attacks byPakistani proxies on Indian territory may one day make the Indian govt pull out of the Indus water treaty and then what will Pakistan do? India have been reminding Pakistan that blood and water can’t flow the same way. and something will give and please spare me this thing about Pakistan army ,Four wars initiated byPakistan end up with four losses. With control over media you can also see how an army of 93000 surrendered in 1971 instead of fighting and lost half of its territory and still made that Clown Bhutto PM despite losing the election to Sheik Mujib Pakistan need to have strong ggt ,kicked the army out of politics and return to barracks and appoint competent civilians to work with international luminaries to address water stressed and water scarcity and revisit. Tops that are too water intensive like sugar cane and cotton I hope that help

PM Nehru was over generous in allocating 80% of water to Pakistan in the Indus Water Treaty of 1960 . Maximum water for Pakistan should have been less than 50%/ India should seek a review in her favour of Indus Water Treaty. But for the present India is taking the right steps well within her rights in the Indus Water Treaty i.e. Stopping totally the waters of River Ravi by constructing Shahpur Kandi Dam and dams on Ravi’s tributaries like River Ujhh and River Basantar . Construction of maximum number of hydro electricity dams / navigational facilities on Rivers Chenab , Jhelum and Indus and also utilising fully ,for irrigation-al / drinking water purposes, India’s small share in these rivers. --- Chenab i.e. Chandrabhaga is basically a river of Himachal Pradesh. It belongs to HP and has a very small Kashmir connectiom. Chenab's waters should be diverted to Ravi and other Indian rivers including Yamuna. India got in her share waters water of only two rivers compared to 3 rivers for Pakistan.River Beas is only a tributary of River Sutlej . Beas does not even enter Pakistan.
