How do you feel about the Minivan? Old news? Still alright?

Needs a nice top-mount case in the same layout, and keyset designers need to get over their spite and start supporting it in 40% kits.

Personally, I think it's a "situational" keyboard. Once I got used to the layout, my wpm was fine and I actually started to like it a lot. The only reason I don't use mine a lot is because I prefer 65% (it's going to take a lot to replace my 10 year old FC660M, THINK6.5 would've been it)

not a 40% fan here, and i like to avoid drama, but the van never looks some thing diferent from the other to me enought to make me try 40% again.

I almost bought into the Kumo since a staggered 40% is something I've been wanting to try, but the lack of keycap support & issues the end products showed up with makes me glad I passed. Gonna wait & see what TKC does with it before I really think about grabbing a Kumo or Minivan again.

Love the MiniVan. I had a classic and now a hotswap. Love the support from Evan and the team. No complaints.

I love your content because it is very apparent that you are a humbled, seasoned actual member of the community. Your knowledge on the background of products and key terminology sets you apart from many of your YT uploading peers.

you can buy budget 40% kits on aliexpress like the Daisy, and the YMDK 40%, along with the AMJ40 on Flashquark which are nice entries into the 40% form factor

They all have different layouts from the Minivan though.

It's great for travel, and I think the case is very well made and contributes to a pretty decent typing sound.

Rubbermaid Tupperware vibes from the cheap PC case. In fact, Tupperware has way less bend and warp.

Hope you keep trying out 40% layouts! Personal favorite so far is the Tanuki, but that hasn't seen a buy other than a stacked acrylic case yet.

I don't get why you hate people using sublegends who aren't connected to the language in some way. So much of this hobby is about looks and if people like the aesthetic, who cares.
@SimGunther4 жыл бұрын
At least the primary letters are in the correct position (upper lefthand corner). Besides, Russian sublegends also make for good aesthetics IMO.

Good review as usual. I got a Kumo via the kickstarter as well. Overall, I think I've got pretty mixed feelings. At first I really enjoyed it as my home tester board and I do really like the layout, but as I've acquired some nicer boards I find myself using it less and less. Even when I'm craving a 40 percent I tend to turn to my POM planck instead.

They let you enter any symbol without moving the hands. I can't say much about the standard 40% layout like in this video, but a more ergonomical shape combined with 40% makes for a REALLY comfortable experience(with the drawback that once you're used to it you constantly miss the arrow keys etc. right on the homerow when using a standard qwerty layout).

Practicality must be a priority if we're gonna see more "normies" invested in the mech keebs community. If this came in a 65%, 75%, or TKL layout with programmability that didn't require you to always be online and was powerful yet dumb simple to use (all for under $100), that'd be quite the keeb to boot. halogenica.net/hardware/custom-keyboard-dz65rgb/ would definitely be the keeb to beat for that sort of accessibility, but we'll just keep fighting the good fight for the keeb senpais to notice us LOL

imagine unironically buying a 40% keyboard with a cable that you have to assemble and that is twice the cost of a full bluetooth keyboard
