Copenhagen is decently large and these are longer-distance trains so yes, they do receive good ridership! Here's a map for you to view, these trains run on the lettered lines :) cphtransitmap.dk/en/

It's the local commuter trains for the entire Capital region of Denmark. About 360.000 people use these daily, and during rush hours double sets are definetely needed. With a single set, it gets really cramped. I would not call 1 million population for a small city either.
