বদিউর রহমানকে এনবিআর এর চেয়ারম্যান পদে নিয়োগের পর খুব অল্প সময়ের মধ্যে তাকে সরিয়ে দেয়া হয়। ঐ সময় সাংবাদিকদের এক প্রশ্নের জবাবে বদিউর রহমান সাহেব বলেছিলেন, "আমি চাকর হয়ে মনিবের মন রক্ষা করতে পারিনি বলে আমাকে সরিয়ে দেয়া হয়েছে"।
