K Block Lightweight Block - screw field test (part 1)

K Block Lightweight Block (density: 900kg/ m3) was tested in the field to how firmly a screw is held in place when a weight of more than 24kg is added.
Details: A normal 6cm screw was screwed into a K Block lightweight block to a depth of 3cm. No glue or other materials were used to hold the screw in place. With the screw in a horizontal position, a total of more than 24 kg (~50 pounds) of weight was hung from the screw. Even with this weight, the screw remained unmoved and was held firmly in place.
Note: Normally, in a wall made using K Block lightweight block has a 1cm of plaster over the block - adding even more support for the screw.

Thank you for your comment. The blocks are made of portland cement, fine sand, water and small air bubbles. The cement, sand and water are mixed together first and then a foam made of small, strong air bubbles is then added to the mix. Mix everything for about 15-30 seconds and the lightweight concrete is done - ready for pouring (for block - its poured into large molds and then the material, after about 2-3 hours, is cut into individual blocks typically: 20cm x 60cm x various thicknesses).

Good morning. Sorry for the late reply. To produce lightweight block in small quantities (ie. 50-1,500 blocks per day) you can use a manual production system. If you send me an email at [e-mail] - I can send you some information on the production equipment you could use. Note: for higher volume plants, a semi-auto plant is better (lower production costs)

24 kg is nothing. This test do not tell anthing. The real test would be in tension, because, most of the failiures happen when the screw is under tension...
