Amazing insight from kim eana about lyricist's job. I initially thought it's a creative process n an art, but I agree with her that having too much artistic vision as lyricist shouldn't be done as it could clash with the performing artists. It would be good if lyricist n artist have the same preference like how eana n gain were, but the reality is most of the time lyricists make their works according to the order they get n they have to satisfy their client, so it's more like technician/staff just like how eana said. Sure they create a literary art, but their work process doesn't really based on their own artistic vision. It'll be fair to call lyricist as an artist whenever he/she creates whatever work they want n choose a singer to perform the lyricist's work instead (in this case, when the lyricist is the superior n the singer's client).

I supposed it depends how the flow goes? Whether the song was already selected by the singer's team and just need a lyricist or they are hired to just produce for them versus if the song and lyrics was already prepared by the composer and lyricist (can be same person) and sent to singers they deem fitting to the song style?

Her definition fits in to the corporate set up of the music industry. There is no right or wrong. I personally don't think such alienation of art can have a long-lasting impact on people and culture even if it manages to grab some attention in that immediate moment. That's the reason K-pop, for the most part is not taken seriously by many people.
