In the Asian culture, being fair skinned is a sign of beauty. My wife always tries to stay out of the sun because she can get very dark quickly. I don't care much though, I lover her either way. Funny really, European women lay out in the sun for hours trying to get that tan to be more attractive while Asian women do the opposite!.

As you have said your wife prefers to stay inside to avoid sunlight is like a norm for women in asian countries. They prefer to have a fair skin and was white washed because of the misleading ads going on tv. Same goes to my fellow countrymen where the women always apply some lotion and glutathione to achieve a whiter skin since their belief is being white is being beautiful and that's the effect of white washed ads that existed since 90's up to present. Also it is really funny that whites prefer being tan/brown while the tan skinned asians wants to be white.

@@kennlegacy337 Not sure why, Japan was a very closed society but they have had the same view on fair skin as the rest of Asian woman do. I think it has a lot to do with social status. In the old days the elites didn't have to go out in the sun to work, thus fair skin was a sign of being a higher cast.
