I love how k.d. showed everyone she wasn't glamorous only because she didn't want to be, not that she couldn't be.

She is so very tongue-in-cheek and so incomparable! I adore her..her voice is not of this world. I saw her the first time in northern Alberta, when she was singing and dancing around in wedding dresses and cowboy boots, singing rock-a-Billy..she was/is remarkable. ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥🇨🇦

Completely agree! A lot of people miss the tongue in cheek part of this! Have seen her at least 4-5 times in Portland . She’s incredible! ❤

“Miss Chatelaine” was Canada's most iconic fashion magazine. (Our Vogue if you will). Every year a Canadian woman was named Miss Chatelaine as their cover girl and that year she was named Miss Chatelaine. We Canadians “got it” but chuckled at the confusion it brought elsewhere 😊 k.d. gave a wink to her Canadian audience here 😉 only k.d. could cause controversy by being glam, I adore her irony here but her vocals surpass everything! Love your thoughts Harri!

My mom once said she loved k.d.'s voice, but couldn't get over her androgynous appearance. I said, "Oh jeez, Mom. Her voice is a ray of sunshine dipped in honey, why on Earth does it matter what she is wearing."

Chatelaine is major woman's magazine in Canada. It named k.d. lang as woman of the year in 1988. I think this song is also a little poke at being a cover model.

I have seen her in person many times and she is without a doubt one of the most sensual human beings you will ever watch perform. The voice goes without saying but her personality matches it...couldn't love her more.

What song can't KD Lang knock out of the park? The talented Ms. Lang demonstrates her versatility here. Singing in front of an orchestra or fronting a rock band, she can do it all. Great selection, Cynthia. Thanks to you and Harri.

I first heard of k.d. lang when 'Constant Craving' was playing heavily on radio; the song had that strings intro that you would hear in a French bistro-type of atmosphere along with the guitars until you hear her smooth, torchy voice. I was curious to know more about her and thought she is probably a new artist. This was in 1992 before social media or the internet. As luck would have it, my 2nd period Biology teacher, a big black man who was very strict had a CD of k.d. lang's "Shadowland" album, a record that was released in 1988. It was my curiosity that led my teacher to open up to me as an equal and educated me on k.d. lang's early music career as a country-western artist before "Constant Craving". With that tidbit of info, I went to the record store one weekend and was lucky enough to find her other albums in the country/western section. Albums like "Angel with the Lariat", "Absolute Torch and Twang" and of course, "Shadowland". I only had enough money to buy either a cassette or a CD at the time, so I purchased INGENUE. I rushed home to listen to it and fell in love with Miss Chatelaine. As the months passed and I was able to save up enough money from allowance, little by little I started to buy her previous album releases on cassette and that's when I became a fan. Even without social media or the internet, the excitement of going to a record store and discovering something through word of mouth or a suggestion from a store employee; it's an experience in itself. I listened to this album recently and it really stood the test of time.

I love this song Harri...and anything by kd, to be honest. Chatelaine is - or was? I don't know if it's still around, I never check the magazine racks anymore - a Canadian women's magazine. Fashion, health/fitness, articles, recipes, etc. They would have a woman of the year vote every year, and kd won it.

Such a great song and video, with KD's beautiful vocals. Made after she was named Woman of the Year, by Canadian Magazine, Chatelaine, poking some Canadian humor at the award. So different but equally as amazing as we have come to expect from KD. The vocals and accompaniment make for a big winner. Watch her early video of " Hanky Panky" , as we were introduced to her. So talented. ❤ Wonderful KD. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Cynthia. 👏👏 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

Cynthia - Okay, I had to look up this submission to find out how this adventure by one of my favorite female vocalists came to be. This glamorous exquisite production of KD is a follow-up to Constant Craving and is a satire on The Lawrence Welk Show. This was absolutely a delight to enjoy watching and a top-tier submission so far this year. Harri, your reaction was similar to mine. Where did this come from? How come I (we) have never seen this before? Bravo for this A+ submission.

Thanks to earlier commenters for explaining what I initially thought was a very strange video. I have this CD, but got it late, tracking back from All You Can Eat. I never saw this at the time. The weird thing is, this video makes me see it as a drag act, given her usual image. Let's hear it for the Big Boned Gal.

The trouble with this song is those three-note phrases starting on the four - to any Brit they sound uncomfortably similar to Postman Pat! (At least she has the excuse of being Canadian - Depeche Mode fell into the same trap in some song or other and are still wiping egg off their faces)
