I don't say this lightly, but I truly believe that K.D. Lang is the next link in the chain of the greatest singers of the 20th century. She is carrying on the tradition of total credibility when she sings every song and the ability to transcend musical genres that was established and moved forward by singers like Patsy Cline, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, and George Jones. Lang has that natural ability (it cannot be learned or taught) to make you believe every word and touch your soul with the musicality of how she sings the lyrics. She was gifted not only with an amazing voice, but also with the ability to use it to its maximum effectiveness, and that is very, very rare. In short, K.D. Lang could start on page 1 of the phone book and sing every name with such feeling it would move me; AND she would have me believing she personally knew every person whose name she sang.

Outstanding comment. I believed covering a "Neil Young" song would be next to impossible. This performance proves me wrong. Goosebumps from head to toe when I see her perform. I've said this before and it applies so much to KD Lang. To entertain people with music is one thing. To touch the emotions of people by music takes it to an entirely different level. Saw her perform in Providence, RI several years ago and her performance throughout was stellar ! Only problem was that when she got to “ Cryin’ “ there literally wasn’t a dry eye in the house. This version of Neil’s classic is taken to the stratosphere.

KD Lang and the Reclines were the best fun and breath of fresh air at many U of C cabarets in the early 80’s. So much fun, so much musical energy, so much talent. She was the very best part of the 88 winter Olympic closing ceremony and got that party started. Love all her music, respect all the important things she stood up for back when it was riskier to be outspoken. And what an angelic voice.

I hadn't heard k.d. in a long time, and for some reason, the unpredictable algorithm brought me an old clip of Johnny Carson yesterday and he was introducing kd Lang and the Reclines. She was so young, wearing this crazy country skirt and blouse, and she just made my heart soar. Now the algorithm is blessing me every day it seems. What a stunning performance! I have always loved this song. When i hear Neil Young's version I think of Omemee, the Ontario town he spent time in as a child and i drive through often. But K.D's version brought the song home for me. Suddenly it brought me , in my mind, to a town in North Ontario which I spent my 20's in. And yes, she reminded me that all my changes were there. Wow. K.D. Something about that voice bring Neil's words straight through to my heart.

I cannot think of a better place to get lost. I can only imagine how Neil Young felt while listening to her superb rendition. Her beautiful voice singing his incredible lyrics must have moved everyone who had the great fortune of being there to witness the brilliant performances she gave that evening. There are very few people who open themselves up and expose themselves to an audience the way she does. We are allowed to see the humble genius that is KD Lang. And the orchestra helped her to shine even brighter. They sounded amazing. And I cannot think of anyone other than KD who could perform a cover of a Neil Young song so perfectly. I'm sure there aren't many who would even attempt it.

I have never been a big fan of covers, especially a cover of a Neil Young song. But she covered it beautifully. She honored both the song and Neil Young with this performance. I have to wonder of Neil Young got goose bumps when he heard this performance of one of his best songs ever. I give her a standing ovation for her performance that entire evening at the Juno Awards. If she tried for a lifetime, she couldn't improve upon the performance she gave us that night. Her performance of Leonard Cohen's song "Hallelujah" was brilliant.

I have always loved Julie Christie since seeing her powerful performance with Dustin Hoffman in Sam Peckinpah's "Straw Dogs." In a fairly recent film entitled "Gone From Her" Christie plays the role of Fiona, a woman who becomes a victim of Alzheimers. She plays the fading beauty and loss of independence with such poignant dignity; anyone who has ever had a family member or loved one affected by this disease should make it a point to watch it! This song played at the end and I just cried ; it was so beautiful. I knew the name of the song and thought it was K.D. Lang; woo-hoo, I was right! I can never listen to this now without remembering the aching beauty of the film~~
