Very interesting and educational video, I had no idea that such an accessory existed or what it was for. Needless to say that since I only photograph iguanas and no video at all I won’t be buying this “gadget”. On a separate note, you could've done the demonstration in front of a castle and included some history about it🤣. Always great to see you Alan, be well.

There's just no pleasing some people 😂. Stay safe over there in Iguana land!

Five thumbs up for this demo video Alan! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 I have been shooting more video lately, birds mainly, but also at wedding and other venues, handheld at weddings but on a tripod for birding. I don’t use a separate camera for videography so yes, I’m one of those hybrid shooters you mentioned. It’s quite easy for me to switch between video and photos on my Canon R5 and I don’t see a need for purchasing a separate camera strictly for video just yet. I would probably choose one or the other format before heading outside just so I wouldn’t be lugging around so much gear. I might end up purchasing a matte box sometime in the coming new year for my birding/wildlife videography. I can certainly see its benefits. Are you aware that DaVinci Resolve has a pretty good image stabilization feature for shaky video footage? I’d guess you probably are. Anyway….a very enjoyable watch with the added benefit of learning something new! 💜😎💜

Hello TC, yes I do use DR stabilisation from time to time as it is very good (but crops-in slightly of course). I hope come the New Year that I can post some actual video, rather than that appalling stuff you just had to endure!

that's all very good Alan, but how would I go about attaching it to my Osmo?
@photographyforenjoyment2 ай бұрын
Hmmm, I don't think they make adaptors that size... You would ruin the gimbal too!

I found that interesting - I had no clue as to what a matte box was or did - and now I do! Thanks!!

thanks , very informative , don't see a lot of point of that black mist filter , thanks for showing me so I don't waste my money on one , & ND32 I think would work better for what I need

Hello Gilbert and thanks for commenting. You have some lovely creative videos on your own channel and it deserves to grow, so I am glad that this review of mine has been a little help.

That was educational Alan, I found that an interesting display of a type of equipment I knew nothing about, would I buy one? Well probably unlikely, I guess this type of gear is only going to be used by 1% of the photographer world, I'm including smartphone users in that calculation. Would this have any useful application for the stills landscape photographer or would it be overkill? I have seen more compact filter holders, the only difference I see here is the flag? Anyway I will bear this lesson in mind if my photo videograph interests ever advance to this level. Cheers Alan.

Definite overkill for the majority of stills work Steve. The 'flag' is useful of course, but for a still image a conventional hood + maybe extra shading with a hand will reduce flair. It's only when you want to zoom or pan (while filming) that it becomes a better all-around accessory.
