In the mass exhumation of 5000 graves in Bukit Brown, I had approached (2014) the clan's help to claim graves who were from the same hometown. It was with deep regret that it had gone unanswered.
Therefore on the 7 July 2014, I had taken up the responsibility to claim the graves affected from my hometown (金门, 琼林). It had been a great experience and very fulfilling one.
2014年, 因会馆不愿协助情理同乡孤坟, 我只好自己领回同乡的先辈。

This land was once a coffee plantation. Mr. Brown donated this land to Singapore to converted into a cemetery. My Great Grand parents were buried there. And you could find Mr. Lim Nee Soon and few of his sons tombs at Bukit Brown.

Wahh. It started raining during the exhumation. The Gods and ancestors are giving you a blessing! Thank you for properly taking care of the dead with dignity. Will the gravestones be preserved or will they be discarded? Because many of them are very important artifacts and i think a whole museum could be built to them. Something along the lines of “Singapore National Pioneers Museum”. I think itll be a powerful tool to preserve the roots and story of Singapore for generations to come. Nice work!

I noticed that it was raining. In my neck of the woods, it is said that spirits are crying whenever it is raining and there's an event concomitantly happening that concerns cemeteries or memorial dates. That said, I'm sure they were appeased with your loving offerings and prayers. Thank you for sharing. Blessings.

Do you know what the small clay jars are? Were those the only things found in the third tomb? Or was the owner’s remains exhumed as well.
@hianyong
@hianyong 4 жыл бұрын
The small little ornaments are supposed to be more their used in their new world. That's are the only things found other than their wearable jewellery. Finally, all the remains found will be cremated.

Raymond Chua if the remains are cremated, will they be cremated along with the jars and jewelry? Or will they be preserved and kept in museum archives?
@hianyong

@@Voltaire8559 All the stuffs that were dug up will remain with them. It was placed beside the urn. Those ornaments cannot be cremated. What ever that was belong to them will always be with them and should not be removed to anywhere else.

sadly, most of them unable to speak their own mother tongue- Hokkien, probably that's why they aren't interested with their ancestors... like me, I couldn't speak Teochew where my parents originally from. cultural preservation cannot go without language...
