Diwali of Gods is celebrated on Kartik Purnima, 15 days after Diwali.
It is believed that to celebrate this festival, the gods descend from heaven in invisible form on the holy Ganga ghats of Kashi and pave the way for the salvation of the devotees participating in the Maha Aarti.
This festival is a special part of the ancient culture of Kashi.
The description of Dev Diwali is found in Shiv Purana that when in the month of Kartik, a demon named Tripurasur started torturing the gods and started killing them, then Lord Vishnu killed this cruel demon on this day and the gods celebrated Diwali.
There is also a belief that the King of Kashi had started the tradition of lighting lamps at the ghats for his martyred soldiers.
During the Maha Aarti of Ganga on the ghats, people take a dip in the ocean of faith.
The lamp of Dev Diwali, which started from Panch Ganga Ghat, has started glowing at all the ghats of Kashi on Saturday.
By donating a lamp on this day of Kartik month, the ancestors get salvation and the devotee who donates the lamp also gets the path to salvation.
Kartik month is considered to be the month of worship of Lord Vishnu, but Lord Shiva is very fond of Vishnu and Mother Ganga.
Kashi is called the city of Shiva, hence, on the day of Maha Aarti, lakhs of devotees want to be a part of this supernatural moment.
