Cool, I hear the birds chirping in the background. Great video but 4 years ago when I first got my scooter I tried the "Kmod" and rode the bike for a full week with the mod. I found that for my needs the Kmod did not work for me. The much lower fuel mileage on the 2 and 4 lane roads plus the 6 to 7 thousand constant rpm at highway speeds was just not good for my machine. I ride mainly open roads and need the lower rpms for long distance travel. No doubt about it the bike was significantly quicker but at a cost that I wasn't willing to put my bike through. Sooo, I put everything back to stock except for the addition of the face "B" of a 2005-6 variator of a 250 Big Ruckus which has equal length ramps and absolutely no 20 to 45 mph bog that the stock Reflex variator comes from the factory with. I think that if a person did nothing but inner city travel, the Kmod would be GREAT but forget long distance travel on the open road with the engine revving so high. I average 10000 miles a year on my sccoter, bought with 14000 miles on the clock and just turned 55000 miles this spring. Not looking forward to the day I have to put this baby in the junkyard because I love this bike!!

Outstanding video, thanx! I'd never even heard of a "varitor", my sister's '01 Reflex is sitting out in the garage with 11,500 miles on it. I'm not going to try and take that drive apart until the belt or the clutch fails however. The bike runs well, it just takes a very long time to warm up, once it does, it runs nearly perfectly.

I just did mine on my Yamaha Majesty and the one thing I did not do was sand the pulley face, great idea, I have the clutch to look at, I like the wedge idea.

what is the rationale behind this mod? Does the scooter accelerate more smoothly? Or are you looking for more mph? Or both or what? My feeling when faced with the decision "to mod or not" is to ask myself the harrowing question, "Who the hell am I to know better than Honda?"

You may want to skip through 3:40 to 5:50 as I actually was working on the varitor face and not just "faking" it for the video.

I understand one of the sprays is wd40... what is the other spray?

Thank you for this video, it really helped me a lot during my belt replacement,and K mod procedure. I have one question to ask you, hopefully you can trow some light in here, after the belt and K mod I noticed my reflex is more noisy than before and with more RPM, also after I finished replacing the belt and removing the black rollers but before I install the covers I start the engine and I saw many little rubber pieces coming from the new belt, is that normal since it's new? hank you for your help.

Sir, that wood tool is genius. Did you think that up yourself? I mean, really, I've been searching through the internet looking for various sorts of tools, clamps, techniques, etc., that I might be able to pull off for this very thing. The drive clutch on my scooter is very hard to squeeze too. Last time it took four hands to squeeze it, level it along with the flywheel, all the while turning the clutch in order for it to fall into place with the belt in tact. Boy were we sweating. That and our hands got all beat up. It was an emergency belt change. All went well, thank goodness. Could you tell me the distance of the gap please. I'm going to make this tool for me. Sir, you should really consider making an official machined prototype then patent it. It is a ingenius tool, I think.

Simple machines, from jr high school physics. The wedge is a wonderful thing! Wrap it around a cylinder....and you have a screw! Glad you were able to get your mod done.

This is part one?? Seems like you already did some work. Maybe move the camera about 3' closer next time, too.

The actual mod is removing every other one of the roller bearings inside the variator. See the Honda Reflex Users site for more detailed instruction. Good Luck.

Removing the spark plug, and eliminating Compression, would take you fighting the compression of the engine Out of the equation when trying to turn the engine over by hand.

Do you have to pull the clutch to do the mod?

The varitor is the clutch. Your'e removing 3 of the 6 rollers in the clutch.

Not by using wet sandpaper and 300 or up grit.
