Nicely done, the end of the battle is rarely discussed. Hiryu and her crew did a tough job essentially 1 on 3 at that point. Both Yorktown and hiryu refused to give up. Hiryu sunk by her own to prevent her falling into U.S. hands and Yorktown surviving tremendous punishment until being dispatched by the Japanese sub.
The gamble that paid off for the Americans. This was the most intense battle fought in World War 2. This was all luck for the Americans and they won the jackpot, sank 4 Japanese fleet carriers!
These videos are excellent, I wish that English subtitles were available.

I 168 had a real stroke of luck. Sort of one last punch after being skunked in the carrier to carrier dual. Superior electrics are what the Americans had.

I would also add the overwhelming manufacturing capability of the United States. Japan lost the war the day they bombed Pearl Harbor.
11:46 What are the odds? B-17 Flying Fortress high altitude bomb run couldn't strike the target.

High altitude level bombing runs from 20,000 feet on a fast moving, hard turning carrier are essentially a matter of luck. It's hard enough to hit a stationary target from that altitude, let alone a moving one. Just drop a string of bombs in the general vicinity of the target and hope for the best.
The Americans had open hanger decks . They could start and warm up the planes engine before bringing them up to the flight deck . This was a great advantage. The Japanese had to start the planes engines up top . Also they did not store the ammunition safety. This was very dangerous. There are so many things to learn about this battle . After this the war was over for Japan.
The American people would not have stood for peace until they exacted their revenge for the bombing of Pearl Harbor. You don't kick someone in the testicles, and then expect a hug in return.
@@taroyosimoto2681 What kind of bullshit are they teaching you people in Japan? I've been told that Japan has kept the truth from its people, but now I see it with my own eyes.
