I am not "strainining desperately". I just found "I surrender", listened to both songs one after another and now i can say that their structure is similar - songs' main parts start on similar timing, and rhytm is too. Yes, they changed words and melody but it's definitely not an accident.

I'm hearing similarity with certain chords in the melody, but beyond that, it's not identical. I would honestly attribute the similarity itself to geographical/cultural tastes. There are a fair number of songs in the US that when heard carefully sound very similar to one another due to the limited or certain number of chords used.

It's not the first song to sound similar to a Eurovision song ... don't know why this is so special. EVERY YEAR we have this "problem". The only part that's similar is part of the chorus and flute. Emmelie was just given the song to sing, I bet she never even heard the song before.

People are complaining about Emelie's song because its a "copy" yet if you listen to today's hits most of them have something very similar from music back then. Artists like Pitbull, Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, One Direction, and many others I could say, and Only Teardrops doesn't make a difference.

This is long from emmelie de forest, yea you can hear its sounds like the flute in the teardrobs song, but millions song being made of a year and i can hear in many of them have a place where its sounds like a another song. But in denmarks its only the flute in the start you can hear it a bit.

Apart from the flute, it's completely different. It's like the 'WMYB' from 1D, the beginning is like Grease's Summer Night, and 'One Thing' from 1D is like 'I want it that way' from the Backstreet Boys.
