This is an Afrobeat song, the reason it sounds Latin is because Africans brought that sound to Latin America.

@@girls4chuu as someone who is Latino. I'll say there is a good amount of Latinos who don't want to admit it's part of African culture (probably cause they think it takes away from our Latin cultures, with a bit of racism and colorism) but I think it's a good thing, it shows how 2 cultures can mix and make its own subculture, but most aren't that understanding

@@alanahelen8876 maybe the ladies in the game, a lot of the new male rappers being produced ain't got it. I've been listening to more of our women rappers in the past 5-8 years because the american men can't bring it like the ladies do currently. But the men rappers, I've been listening to music from the Mother Continent more. This is specifically in reference to what is being played on the radio and tv, not underground or independent artists.

So first, this is African style music. I'd say a mix of nigerian afrobeats and South African amapiano (the dance is amapiano too). Doja has always danced, she's very talented and she's finally showcasing it in her videos.

Afrobeat is a music genre that involves the combination of elements of West African musical styles such as fuji music and highlife with American jazz and later soul and funk influences, with a focus on chanted vocals, complex intersecting rhythms, and percussion. The term was coined in the 1960s by Nigerian multi-instrumentalist and bandleader Fela Kuti, who is responsible for pioneering and popularizing the style both within and outside Nigeria. - Explained by Wikipedia Afro House is a sub-genre of House music, with its roots predominantly in South Africa. A fusion of Kwaito, Tribal, Deep and Soulful House music, in South Africa it is classed as Deep House or Soulful House, although it has its own unique sound. - Explained by Google lol. Hope this helps.

This is an AfroBeats song not a Latin song. Alot of Latin music have African influences because of the slave trade years ago. Doja Cat is actually half South African (her father is from South Africa) so in a way it's like she is paying homage to her African roots with this song.

Doja Cat is half South African of Zulu ethnicity (South Africa's largest ethnic group), through her father who is a South African and a famous film producer of the film "Sarafina" This type of Afrobeat is actually a common type of beat style under a South African genre called House, (a few house DJs and musicians would be for example : DJ Black Coffee, MI CASA, DJ Fresh, Bucie, Prince Kaybee, etc) Also she uses 3 accents throughout this entire video ranging from a slight South African, to a mainly Nigerian pigeon (Nigerian pigeon is very similar to Jamaican patois because a lot of slaves were taken from that part of Africa, so it's easy to get confused with the accent), and then during the last part of her rap verse she uses a slight Caribbean accent Even the style of clothing in the especially the second half of this music video is very South African (in terms of the clothes worn by the some of the tribes) - From South Africa's neighbouring country, Namibia

What I meant by that, if you re-read my comment again is that is a style of Afrobeats called House, which is a genre that originated in South Africa. I also gave some examples of House musicians, just g have a listen to the following artists I mentioned previously, and you will see the similarity.

love the fact that they did a afrobeats/ afro pop song but kind found it weird that they mimicked exactly how afrobeat/ afropop singers sound . They could have sounded like themselves and still did it on a afrobeat/ pop song, but thats just me . Kind of like what Bts did with idol, they were heavily influenced by a south african genre called gqom on that song but but still managed to sound like themselves.
