I have been hardcore bts-army for 4 years, but since last month i switched to exo as my ultimate group. Exo is just insanely talented. I liked bts, but their music is just not that good anymore. I feel like their music is more westernized these days. Argue about it but its true. I love exo because i see how brave and talented they are. I wish i knew them earlier. Pls react to more of their songs!!

Former army here too, but a staunch EXO-L now. EXO isn't promoted as much as BTS so that's why most people get into kpop through BTS but my god once you get into EXO your mind is blown away and you realize how much time you have wasted not stanning them. The talent leaves you speechless.

Their choreography, album concepts and logos are original and always pioneering. They’re an exquisite group and their live performances are the penultimate. You Stan EXO as your ultimate if you have high standards and good taste. They’re the gold standard. It will be good for reactors in general to be careful to not keep name dropping and mentioning BTS every time they react to a K-pop group because there is a possibility that that group or idol may have come before BTS and did it all even before BTS. So it will come across as disrespectful and ignorant to compare them.

About the comparisons to BTS, I think fans who discovered kpop through BTS are the only ones who draw comparisons. EXO debuted in 2012 and BTS debuted in 2013 so most people who have been around for awhile know that they are two completely different groups and that's no shade towards BTS because I was a huge BTS fan and they are very talented in their own right but having become an EXO fan a few weeks after they debuted in 2012, when BTS came out, I never felt those two groups could be compared. BTS lean more towards rap and hip-hop while EXO are more a pop and r&b vocal group imo. Anyway I just felt to offer my unasked for two cents lol Enjoyed both of your EXO reactions so far. Comparing is a natural habit of people...thats kinda normal. You always compare to something you know more about. I guess it just depends how you compare it. Comparing in the sense of showing differences or similarities is not an issue. If we would have never compared stuff in our lives, regardless what it is, we wouldnt know to differentiate some things. But I do agree that most people use BTS as a reference since they blew up in the West...on one hand it is understandable. I didnt know EXO either but to me in general when I learn about earlier generations of artists they become my reference points also in the sense of comparing how the genre or industry or whatever it is changed over the decades. I do like though that more and more people react to EXO. EXO really deserves the global recognition.
