I think what a lot of people forget is that Rosie was born and raised in a Western culture, and this will always be part of her and her music. In fact, I think that is her comfort zone. Many of the covers that she's done over the years have been by US artists. So, K-pop fans shouldn't be surprised that her music is going to be more mainstream. Her vocals and that she can convey emotions to listeners, a rare ability, I think that she is bound for greatness. ❤

This was a great interview. One of the things I really like about Rosé in general is that she seems to have a good head and has a generally grateful attitude towards the world. Especially in the parts where she was asked about the training system, she would always answer without baggage. Like many Blinks, I felt bad that Rose was not given a chance to do a lot of solo ventures or collaborations despite being Blackpink’s main vocal; but I still have gratitude and appreciation for what YG has done to make the 4 ladies be who they are and what they can be, because of the decisions they made for Blackpink.
@harry55t3 күн бұрын
Yes. I agree. Many people do not see that. Without YG, there would be no Blackpink. All the 4 girls are hugely successful (and extremely wealthy and can do what they like doing now) because of YG. They trained the girls well and they have invested millions of dollars into them.

We have to separate criticsm for her art, which very much needed in order for an artist to be better, for example it is in regards to her voice, lyrics, live performance, etc. And pure hate that basically has nothing to do with her art, for example, body shaming, false allegation, etc. The latter is the major problem in Kpop industry (maybe music industry in general). Disliking an artist because you're not into their art is okay (at the end of the day everyone has their own preference) but deliberately saying mean things and creating a false narrative just bcs you hate the person for no reason at all, is just a pure horrible behaviour. Rosie, thank you for being so open and vulnerable in this interview. I hope you can find peace inside your head and please refrain urself from goin down the rabbit hole by reading comment on the internet, it's beyond your control after all. And keep in mind that a lot of ppl appreciate your art and don't let the small noise overcome the appreciation and love shown to you!! Oh and can't wait for you new album!!

I really enjoyed this interview. Rose’ is always sweet, honest, and emotionally vulnerable. I do feel bad for the interviewer though. She was really hoping Rose’ would come out on how negative the industry is in Kpop. There are definitely heartbreaking stories and of neglect and even abuse but the reality of it is the entertainment industry is brutal and it doesn’t matter where you’re shooting for your dreams. I guarantee we can find those same stories right here in America. These idols choose this path in hopes of fortune and fame and the companies provide the training to attain these dreams. Unfortunately there are irreputable companies out there and trainees must choose wisely. I’m just glad Rose’, Jennie, Jisoo, and Lisa were able to endure and become Blackpink. Yes, it was tough but as in any true success you go through hardships, you work hard, and hopefully persevere to realize it was all worth it.

I think you are the only member of YG family who has boldly acknowledged the professional benefits of your training period at YG... Showing this gratitude comes only from a pure generous soul... 21:55 This broke my heart. She always has, and always will be more than enough for us. The thought of Rosie keeping herself up at night reading any negativity about her fills me with so much sorrow bc she has brought nothing but happiness to not only my life but so many others.

Cheering for you, Rosie. I'm more a NYT reader than a Blackpink fan- though I can say I'm both as a Korean American- but I cried during the interview, especially when she spoke about Vampire Holly. Gonna go have a listen of the full album now. The interviewer did a great job as well. I appreciated noting the boundary drawing and the gentle contextual nudges re Kpop culture. Leaving the podcast as a Rosie fan!

This interview was absolutely fantastic. It hurts a lot of the things that Rosé has told, what she has gone through and continues to go through, because the hate messages continue even today with the topic being thrown around. I appreciate and applaud Rosé's courage to speak out despite the destructive criticism. She is a gem, a brilliant mind, a magnificent talent. And she will be even greater. I can't wait to get my hands on the Rosé album, and I can't wait to see the return of BLACKPINK.

This is my favorite interview by far. ❤ Though Rose is talking about her own experiences, I feel like she also represents so many idols who suffer from bullying, loneliness and depression. I hope she knows that she's making a difference in so many people's lives through her music and songwriting.
