Orchid is an epiphytic plant, not parasitic. In nature it grows on tree trunks, anchoring on branches with its own roots, has green thick leaves producing its own food, has aerial roots to enable it capture moisture from air. These plants jus piggy back on tree trunks to catch sufficient sunlight. Definitely not parasitic.
