यहाँ मैंने बताया है कि कोरल पॉलीप्स द्वारा कोरल के कंकाल कैसे बनाए जाते हैं जो छोटे जानवर होते हैं। ये कोरल पॉलीप्स सूक्ष्म शैवाल ज़ोक्सांथेला को आश्रय और संरक्षण देते हैं जो पोषक तत्वों के पुनर्चक्रण और प्रकाश संश्लेषण की प्रक्रिया को पूरा करता है। कोरल दो प्रकार के होते हैं - सॉफ्ट कोरल और हार्ड कोरल। कठोर मूंगे पर चट्टानें बनती हैं।
कोल्ड वाटर्स में भी कोरल पनप रहे हैं। गर्म पानी में पनपने वाले प्रवाल को स्वच्छ और साफ पानी और अत्यधिक प्रदूषण की आवश्यकता होती है, नागरिक और औद्योगिक कचरे का निपटान, पोषक तत्व और तलछट लोडिंग मूंगों को मार सकता है।
