Watching the Eurovision finals last year was NUTS. I have never, ever heard the Eurovision audience be so loud that the announcers were not able to speak over them. It felt like the whole audience was chanting Käärijä's name, hoping that he'd win. Also, Finland's representative this year, Windows95man, will definitely make for a great reaction

The anomaly that happened during this competition was not that the result was really close. In eurovision there are judges and popular vote from each country and the points translate roughly 50/50 between those two. Between Loreen and Käärijä the two sides went really different directions. Most judges gave most points to Loreen and hardly eny to Käärijä. Loreen got a lot of points from the audience, but was not the favourite in any country. Käärijä was the favourite in 15. This sparked a huge debate over the judge system, when whole europe wants one act to win, but judges don't like these types of songs so they can't win. Edit: 18 countries favored Käärijä, not 15, and he was actually 4th in judge points. Loreen was just THAT ahead of anyone else in judge points.
@gmr68985 ай бұрын
Käärijää was actually the favourite in 18 countries in the televote.
@sk700915 ай бұрын
I wouldn't say the juries gave hardly any points to Käärijä though, he still came in 4th. It's just that they gave Loreen SO many of the jury points that it was basically impossible for anybody else to catch that lead. Even Käärijä couldn't do it with his second-highest ever televote points. And I'm going to be salty about it until the end of days.
@GOTGames5 ай бұрын
Ohhh I didn't know it worked like that 🤔
@Caldera015 ай бұрын
@@sk70091 It wasn't "basically" impossible. Even if Käärijä had gotten full 12 points from EVERY country, he STILL wouldn't have won. It was LITERALLY impossible.
@sk700915 ай бұрын
@@Caldera01 Actually, since they added the "rest of the world" vote last year, it could have happened, theoretically, but it would have been HIGHLY unlikely. The maximum amount of points available in the televote was 444. Käärijä would have needed 433 of those to beat Sweden and get 583 points to their 582. Which means he would have needed to get more than 97% of the available points. Which of course has never happened in the history of Eurovision. Very frustrating that you can get a televote score that is higher than all past WINNERS except for Ukraine 2022, and still not win because 150+ jurors decided otherwise.

Cha cha cha was audience favorite like not seen since Ukraine winning few years back. Everyone, but the stupid juries loved it, which was its death sentence. Tattoo is a fine song, but absolutely nothing new. Yet, the juries scored Tattoo super high because Loreen is 1. famous, 2. easy choice as a pop song, 3. cha cha cha being fun rap instead of super performative pretentiousness. Listening to the audiences really gives a point of view of which song was actually enjoyed more, despite any technical performative skills.
@becauseimbatman13915 ай бұрын
Let's be real here. The amount of points given to Finland by the jury wasn't the problem, it was a very good amount. The problem was the jury's pure biasedness on voting exclusively Sweden and giving them way too many points, many of which should have gone to other countries with great singers like France and Portugal
@siru43345 ай бұрын
Glad you liked it! Finland has such a rich culture for music and many artists worth listening to like Apulanta, Haloo Helsinki and PMMP! But that aside, Cha cha cha is such a good song! The true winner of Eurovision 2024! He received 85% of all possible points from the 'Audience votes' making him the second most voted even, right behind Ukraine who received 94% in 2022. Loreen however, didn't get a single 12 points from Audience votes in any participating country. Sadly, the competition has a 50/50 split between jury and audience, leaving Loreen the winner as the Jury awarded her twice as much points as any other country. Europe was not happy with the result since everyone (us in the audience) had paid real money to make Kaarija the winner, awarding him 85% of all possible points from the audience point pool, only for the jury to completely run us over. Even if Kaarija had gotten every single possible point from the audience point pool, he would only have won over Loreen by 9 points. Many say it was rigged af, to ensure that Sweden would host Eurovision for ABBA's 50 year anniversary, which I almost believe myself. But who knows, I just find it a bit convenient that Loreen would come back to Eurovision out of nowhere, after hearing the song stating "I knew I had to compete with it", only to win because of having been awarded insane jury points, making Sweden the hosting country just in time for ABBA's 50 year anniversary.

If you want to get conspiratorial, here's one for you. EBU, Sweden and Sony all wanted Sweden to win so that Sweden would host this years ESC for ABBA's 50th year celebration event. It's good for all 3 as a big easily marketable event, which would be easy for record labels to sell to radio stations and so forth. Huge majority of the judges work for Sony. It would be remarkably easy for them to get a word through Sony's massive media empire for the judges to favor Loreen for numerous reasons. Her music is quality enough that placing her as #1 wouldn't raise eyebrows, her music is great easy listening for traditional radio stations (Unlike Käärijä's with his 'Party Rock') and since ABBA is also under Sony label, they get a massive double whammy event next year that benefits everyone involved. But that's just a theory, a conspiracy theory.

You could react to every Eurovision song from each country, who's with me? That's if Luke has not seen them of course.
