সরকারি চাকরির সব পদে কোটা সংস্কারের দাবি করছিল আন্দোলনকারী শিক্ষার্থী ও চাকরিপ্রত্যাশীরা।
সরকারি চাকরিতে নিয়োগের ক্ষেত্রে কোটা পুনর্বহাল সংক্রান্ত হাইকোর্টের রায় দেশের সর্বোচ্চ আদালত সামগ্রিকভাবে বাতিলের পর প্রজ্ঞাপন জারি করা হয়।
এখন থেকে সরকারি চাকরিতে ৯৩ শতাংশ মেধার ভিত্তিতে নেয়া হবে। বাকি ৭ শতাংশ নেয়া হবে কোটায়। এর মধ্যে মুক্তিযোদ্ধা কোটা রাখা হয়েছে ৫ শতাংশ এবং ক্ষুদ্র নৃগোষ্ঠী, প্রতিবন্ধী ও তৃতীয় লিঙ্গের জন্য রাখা হয়েছে ২ শতাংশ।
