Kösem Sultan The Empress of Three Continents - Episode 1

This is the first episode of our series about Kösem Sultan. Although much less known than Hürrem, Kösem was much more powerful and influential. She was the wife of Sultan Ahmed I, who died at an early age. Kösem ruled the Ottoman Empire for 30 years, as the queen regent to three sultans. This episode covers her first regency adn early life, untill the reign of Sultan Murad IV.

Before kösem sultan, Handan sultan was the first co-regent of Sultan Ahmed. And you also didn't mention, Sultan Osman executed Kösem sultan s elder son Mehmet.

Hi. There’s minimal evidence that suggests Mehmet was Kosems son. In my research I’ve found no mention of that, and only after your comment I was able to find a few sources that suggested he might’ve been Kosems son. However it is the generally accepted belief among historians that Mehmet was not from Kosem. Regarding your comment about handan sultan it is true yes. But the video was about Kosems life and reign so I did not want to get into much detail about Ahmed’s reign. Thank you for your comment I really appreciate it.

the person who is speaking has the worst english accent I have ever heard, at some point I could not understand what he was saying and the video wasn't interesting to watch because of that reason. Please pay attention to the persons who speak at the videos
