Dosavakaya is a very popular Avakya /pickle ( dosakaya pachadi) in Telangana & Andhra household (South Indian).Dosavakaya is made from yellow Indian cucumbers known as Dosakaya or budama Kaya (Dosakaya pachadi) . Hence the name of the pickle called Dosavakaya. Dosavakaya tastes spicy,little sour and crunchy.
Ingredients:
Yellow cucumber pieces-1,1/2 cup
Red chili powder- 1/2 cup
Mustard powder(Avapindi) - 3 tbsp
Turmeric powder- 1/2 teaspoon
Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
Ground nut oil 5 to 6 tbsps
Salt as required
Mustard seeds- 1 tbsp
Cumin seeds-1/2 tbsp
Redchilies- 3nos

Instructions:
Preparing Tadka/popu:
1.Heat oil in pan add mustard, cumin, redchillies,hing,fry on low flame, kept a side and let it cool. l (As shown in the video)
Mixing Dosavakaya(pickle)
1.Wash a medium sized dosakaya 3nos and dry it completely. Cut the cucumber (Dosakaya) into two halves. de-seed and cut it into small pieces (as shown in the video)
2.Take 3 tbsps mustard seeds and grind to a fine powder.
3.Place the chopped cucumber (dosakaya) in a bowl. Add red chilli powder, mustard powder,cumin powder,turmeric and salt and mix to combine.check the taste of the raw cucumber pickle and if salt is insufficient, add a little more salt at that time.
4.Next add tadka or popu oil and combine till the cucumber pieces are well coated with spice powders and pieces should be wet with the oil. Leave it for 1hour and serve with rice, upma or chapati.
Dosavakaya (dosakaya pachadi) is ready to store it in a glass jar and cover with a tight lid and keep at a moisture-free dark area of your kitchen.
Note:
1.Dosavakaya (dosakaya pachadi) should be store in refrigerator as it is instant pickle, so make sure you eat the Dosavakaya pickle with in 10 days of making it. This pickle should be store in refrigerator as it is instant pickle, so make sure you eat the pickle with in 10 days of making it. Although it lasts upto 1 month in the fridge
2.For dosavakayi (dosakaya pachadi) i used Three mango chili powder gives nice red color and spiciness, so I added three mangoes chili powder it gives good color and taste.
