Nice presentation Al. I think profiles and profile management could be made easier. It is difficult to know or remember what settings are saved and which profile is affected. One way to improve profiles would be to make them available as a text file for review and modification. Another might be to have all the profile variables show up together under a menu or popup window for review and adjustment. I'm guessing the saved settings are hidden from us to protect ourselves from ourselves. It also means I could share a profile with you and you'd have to be very careful to review all parts of it in the GUI before using it. Especially if external equipment is connected. I also see that GUI layouts are not stored. Resizing a window or moving elements around is not saved by the global profile. At least not in 1.9.

I like the idea of profiles, but find the part where a microphone profile attaches itself to a mode confusing. The way it should work is that a profile stores the settings you set and that is it. No bonding to modes.
