PeaBraine because of the red stone torches. They alternate off and on between floors, and the top floor with the pistons must have a redstone torch that is on so that the pistons can be powered.

I love this build and I use it everywhere I go but it's not working properly in 1.19 😢 Once all crops get to the hoppers they stop instead of going in. I moved the hoppers back and the same thing still happens even with the water now flowing over the hoppers. Please please please give us a way to fix this 🙏 Edit: I read in the comments somewhere to move the hoppers down a level, hoping this works 🤞

Ok let me start off with saying that this is a genius way of doing this and I like the design. My one thing is... If you have to go to the top to plant the seeds anyway would it be easier to just put the ladder and platforms near the Pistons and have the switch wired to there. It would be a lot easier and use even less redstone materials and you wouldn't have to worry about hiding it. It would all be in the roof. Again this is a genius way of doing it if you had to have the lever down by the chest but there really isn't a real reason to. Great video. Very well made. Keep up the good work

This works just fine for me (ps4) with one change, swap out the pistons for sticky pistons and move them up one block (adjust restone accordingly) and stick a block to the piston. It will now stop the water when you close them. I also ran my hoppers to an item elevator (K1's silent elevator) and into a sorter; my OCD is now appeased!

This video was posted 5 years ago. I've built it before, and I'll build it again. Updates in the game mean sticky pistons with blocks on them now, but that doesn't kill this. This is still a cheap, somewhat easy, hugely reliable build. Still impresses people when I add it to a realm, and I will forever send the link to it

*DISCLAIMER:* Minecraft's new aquatic update has changed the way water behaves, so this farm no longer works. After you retract the Pistons to release the water to collect your food, no matter what you do the Pistons can't stop the water again. I spent about an hour and a half on this, perfecting it only to realize that Minecraft f***ed it up.

I have a few builds similar to this. I use a lot more redstone for item sorters to separate seeds from food and villagers to replant everything. Vanilla minecraft. Can get rather complicated but if you have the resources it's well worth it. This build is extremely simple, very cheap, works like a charm, and it should be close to 100% efficient.

Not sure what version of PC this was built for but it doesn't work for the 1.11 update. Seems that plowed farm land is the slightest bit shorter then the hoppers, thus everything you harvest gets stopped at the hopper line and doesn't go in. To fix it you'll have to drop the hoppers down 1 block below the dirt so that everything falls into them. This means that you either have to have a chest that sits 2 blocks down, or do some sort of item elevator to a chest at ground level.

Just built this farm and everything works as it should accept the hoppers at the bottom are not collecting the food. I even tried adding another line of hoppers within the water flow to see if maybe they weren't traveling far enough but that didn't work either. They just hang up right at the edge of the closest set of hoppers. Best I got through the hoppers was like 20 carrots on a 7 level farm. Please anything you have that may help would be "amazing"! Built on Xbox One on 5/27/2019 on latest version of non-Bedrock Minecraft. It does not work 100%. You will have to remove the front row of dirt at the bottom and drop the hoppers and chest down one level. You will need to push the first row of hoppers back and add a two more hoppers behind the two leading to the chest. Still a very nice and useful build.

Awesome farm, works great! Doesn't really take a whole lot of material to build either. It's all simple material and really easy to attain. I chose smooth sand stone for my main block, hardened clay for the pillars where you used spruce, and acacia wood for all of the upside down stairs and roof, although I did cheat and use torches instead of glow stone. I didn't really like the look of it with the default skin pack. Turned out really nice!

In order to help make planting more automated, just add a farmer. then add some hoppers on each level and program the hoppers to accept the Wheat, Beetroot, or any seed items. then feed the farmer with 10 bundles (Full stacks of 64) of each seed and leave some spare seed . he will then never run out of seed. This will only help plant the seeded stuff, so plant them at the top :) maybe a redevelopment with this adaption would be good!

This looks better than the one I was using. I think I'll modify it a bit if I decide to use this one, though. I'll probably make it wider. It'll use more pistons but then I can put more on each layer.

I have the PS4 addition and I have built this farm in my game and it will not work the hoppers don't move the wheat to the cheasts and the regular piston keep getting water logged so even if there closed the water is not stopping

No he's right, water flows through extended pistons now. To make this work, use sticky pistons. When they are extended, the water is on. When they retract, they pull up the blocks underneath shutting off the water.

The other farm you made on the down hill slide is an easy one. I have done that version myself plenty of times. It's the tower style that I've been having trouble with.

would you think it's possible for them bring out a update, that allows villagers plant, carrots, wheat, potato's. then set up a mine cart with Hooper underneath the block. for a automatic farm? soon on the console version.

Thanks for this. I may make this for crops, and I definitely plan to make a variation (without water in the walls and with a path down the center of each level) for farming nether wart. :)

man first of I love your tutorials period. I made this in survival at 20 levels high. I made two of them it's crazy tall but efficient and I like em but at 20 high ALOT of glass for survival.. thank you sir...

Pretty good. One problem though. I noticed in the description it says good for survival, but um. You built it in creative mode... Many segments of your machine have building shortcuts that creative mode offers, such as flight or infinite blocks. Meanwhile, in survival you can only build it so high before you run out of resources or simply don't have the time to build the extra scaffolds required to get to the specific places you need to build. In short, it's not very plausible for survival mode. Yeah I know this video is like two years old and a newer version has probably been come up with (like the second auto farm shown in the video), but I just really wanted to point this out.

Made this again on bedrock ps4 version on my ps5. August 19, 2022. I did only 3 layers and when I got to the redstone at the top my pistons stayed up so I couldn't place the water. If you have that issue then put the lever sooner down below and flip it so the pistons will go down.

Its a great design but you said fully automatic. I'm not complaining its just a semi automatic system since you have to plant it yourself. May i suggest putting a farmer villager on every level so they replant the crops. The water wont drown them if you make the flow one block tall.

Love the design. Just got done building a pair of them for my carrots, and a combo pillar farm for potatoes and beets but for some inexplicable reason the crops flow to the end of the water and DO NOT fall in the hoppers. In earlier versions of the game I built the terraced hydro farm and that always kicked the crops into the water. I can't explain why the crops are not falling into the water with this design. Ive got to pick them up and throw them in my hoppers manually. To try a fix I put a second row of hoppers behind the first row of 8 and still the crops flowed to the end of the farm and stayed there even thou the water was flowing OVER the second row of hoppers. Game programming glitch possibly..? I've never seen items fail to fall off when at end of water. Playing in 1.12.2 version Btw, I'm planning ( and have book marked ) your design for the auto pumpkin / melon farm.

Hey K1 I think possibly next time you should tell people to do this in a certain direction such as North, South, West, and East because otherwise the Redstone torches do not work unfortunately so yeah. please put this into consideration and if this is not the problem please reply back so I know what I did wrong. But it was a perfect video and hope you continue your work :)
@K1Inc

I'm so happy you enjoyed the video but the only thing that gets affected by direction is rails .... it doesn't matter what direction your placing a redstone torch the direction doesn't affect that at all ... what issues are you having?
@bradbradshaw8639
@bradbradshaw8639 8 жыл бұрын
well no matter how high I went the torch would not be lit at the top and still in the right direction with the water and the piston if that makes sense. Ex. I would go one higher and the torch would ne lit so I go higher it is lit but in the wrong direction for the dirt placement.
