Yep, I am from Pakistan and its amazing place to visit, specially 6 hours jeep ride on rough road from Gilgit to Askolee and then 5 to 6 days walking on feet to base camp of K2 passing through mountains, beside river, desert and at last walking on world's most big glacier which is 62 kilometres long and 4 kilometres wide and reaching at base camp. I just fulfill my hobby by watching different vlogs who reached there bcz I have not much money and besides not have that level of health in age of 45, though if I count it in dollars or Euros in my Currency, it just needed on 1000 dollars with luxury style to go there and coming back home. I would like to say, who ever wants to even reach at base camp of K2, For western ppl it is not much costly to come here in summer to visit this area.

Arguably best documentary I have seen for climbing. Really nice job bringing us these wonderful views of K2. I wish we see more often these quality documentaries for other summits as well. Really nice job Fabrice, Tunc, Azim and all other climbers.

K2 is the only mountain which is not sumitted in winters. Those who tried to summit K2 in winters they never returned back. You will never know when the weather conditions change on K2. Every single minute is challenging. It's a beast and the other beast is Nanga Parbat Killer Mountain.

Thank you @Ironcam. You actually have to re-fix the entire route every year as it is generally not safe to re-use old ropes and you have to check every anchor regularly. Even during the same season, you may have to replace Korean ropes because of the abrasion on the rocks, in particular the ropes below camp 2 which are the most used. For the House chimney, we used a good quality 8mm rope brought by one of our member, Jeff Rao, who was tragically killed on Nanga. When you rappel down the mountain, you have to check the rope you are using is a new rope and ensure that there is only one member on each section of the rope. Unfortunately there are a lot of old ropes, even ladders which stay on the mountain and you have to be very careful while descending. The advantage of fixed ropes is that it took us only 10 hours to rappel down from the shoulder 7800m to 5200m and the conditions were quite safe on the Black Pyramid with no rockfalls.

ironcam Yes we did carry down all our high altitude tents. For the summit push, myself and Dawa Chhiri were carrying my personal Mountain Hardware EV3 tent we used in camp 3 and 4 and we also used a common tent in camp 2 which was also brought down. Given the cost of a good HA tent and environmental concerns, climbers will do their best effort to bring down the tents. There are 2 exceptions 1) Bad weather prevents to dismantle the tent at the end of the season, for example the ones camp 2 left for a summit push that never happen and 2) Climbers go missing or retreat quickly to save their life. In 2009, during our attempt on the Cesen route, we did see half broken tents used by members who died the year before. A tragic reminder of the deadly summer of 2008.
