Nice video! Good timing, explanations, background music, videography (1440p!) and clearly a pristine and pampered Si. Cheers

Would you recommend a 3" or 3.5 for the K-Tuned intake? I have FlashPro and will be doing basic bolt-ons. Is the 3.5 able to just bolt right in or does it require a tune?
@JasonMcMullen
@JasonMcMullen 6 жыл бұрын
I would go 3.5 inch, it comes with a coupler to go to the stock throttle body and has better air flow. The intake comes with a 3.5 inch secondary pipe either way so may as well and get the 3.5 inch primary pipe. You can try to use the preset tune that comes with the flashpro for cold air intake (File>new calibration>AEM V2 CAI), but yes a custom tune is recommended, it runs a little weird on the stock tune. Also I was able to get the velocity stack to fit with the fog lights installed, even though K-tuned says it dosent fit. I'll do a review/info video soon

Get the 3.5" since you have FP, just run a MAP based calibration and you should be good

haha it does sometimes but luckily they made it super easy to take off, there is just one bolt on each side of the bar and the brackets just stay in place

Where do you get an si badge like that for that type of grill?
@JasonMcMullen
@JasonMcMullen 6 жыл бұрын
dynamite653 Its the OEM Si badge, the grill is the OEM Si grill that I took apart and then covered only the top part with 3M 1080 Carbon Fiber Wrap. I replaced all the emblems when I bought the car with brand new ones. Got the Si badge from hondapartsnow, and the red FD2 Type-R badges from icbmotorsport

How loud is the N1 exhaust? any drone?
@JasonMcMullen

It's about 8/10 loud, and it does drone a little but you'll get use to the volume in about a month of driving. I love it

Yup I agree, the rsx-s/dc5 is way better hands down and has more aftermarket support since it’s more jdm than the fg2 chassis. You can get lsd as well with the k20a trans.

Man bro the type R fan boy shit is great and all but you coulda bought an exedy 8.9 pound flywheel and stage 2 clutch for around the same price you spent on all the type R fan boy cosmetics. Alot of people over look these two mods when doing bolt ons to any Honda and I can't express enough how important they are to have if you really wanna learn how to revv match properly as well as gain a few hp and a ton of throttle response. And you completely defeated the purpose of your larger throttle body by not having the intake manifold inlet port bored out to port match to the throttle body output. You also shoulda done headers at the same time you did the exhaust , there's little point in a larger TB intake manifold and tune if your not running at least a decent set of headers without headers you'll never ever do the manifold and TB justice and like I said the larger TB and intake manifold are almost pointless if they are not portmatched to the exact same size your probably holding back nearly 15-20 hp by not having headers or port matched TB and intake. BTW a short ram air intake gives better throttle response and more high end Hp than a long ram cold air will add, the long rams really just add a little torque if anything. Given your so up with the Type R shit a real set of type R wheels would free up a fair amount of power due to less rotational mass while shaving a fair amount of extra weight off your ride. While you had you Intake manifold off you shoulda added one of them nylon heat deflecting intake gaskets as they really do make a difference plus for $30 why wouldnt you just take the chance even if you had no clue whether itd actually be functional or not, which they are just saying. When you get your headers they might be expensive but spending the extra money on equal length headers is well worth the money. One question, have you done any of this work yourself or did you pay somebody to put all this shit on your car for you? You know your not really in the Honda game unless your doing your own work, actually I'll further that statement by adding that your not in the Honda game unless youve owned or own an EF, Eg or Ek chassis Civic and youll never truelly know what all this is about until you build an Ef-Ek Civic, I remember when people were welding there own mounts together out of steel plate to get a B-series into a CRX or a bubble hatch because hasport wasn't even in business making Honda engine mounts yet. I also remember the days when you could grab a.b18Ls , b20 or b16 swapped hatch for under $1500 bucks that ran and drove because it's owner sadly was in a serious financial bind and just need a thousand bucks quick to pay his rent. I also remember the days when you could swap a 125 hp single cam into a Crx or bubble with an Si tranny and bolt ons and break into the 14's with less hp than a b18Ls makes. Hell I remember the days when Honda kids actually knew what a b18Ls motor or a cable tranny even was. those days sadly will never return unless you got a clean Ef , bubble or Ek with a b18Ls or b20 block and b16 head and tranny stached out somewhere under a tarp in some old garage just waiting to be built and put on the road. Financial bind caused me to have to sell my deeply loved Crx back in late 2010 and yeah, Ill admit I cried man when the kid drove her away bouncing 2nd gear off the Rev limiter absolutely roasting the tires on its final departure, RIP black bomber youve been deeply missed for 9 years now.

Hey man thanks for the long comment. First yes I have done all the work on the car myself except the Stage 1 action clutch I had put in, which was done by a top notch Mechanic at Honda. I follow the actual Honda factory service manual for ALL the work I do on my car, I do things according to the book. I've been in the honda game all my life, my dad owned an EF civic, my brother owns a DC2 integra and use to have an EG Civc, and I've owned an CB7 Accord and an EK Civic. As for the Type-R parts, I've always loved genuine Honda Type-R parts and I spend money on what I love. My car is not a Full Bolt on build yet, but it will be, all builds take time. As for the short ram intake, I've owned one and had it fully tuned, and the K-Tuned Cold Air Intake provides more consistent and safe power in direct comparison. At high temperatures tuners actually have to retard the engine due to high intake temps from a short ram intake, and this is according to Vit Viper's blog (the guy who tuned my car, and who once owned the fastest FG2 civic in the world.) I will be doing headers soon. And I have a stock throttle body, If I go to a J37 throttle body I will get the intake manifold port matched, which I recommend in this video. And actually some new wheels might be coming really soon haha ;) Nice to meet another honda guy
