Wow, thanks for giving me permission to have a neutral grip - every lesson I’ve had started with a strong grip with which I’ve struggled to hit consistently. Neutral grip, and not trying to hit down on the ball hard, has made an immediate improvement after 40 years playing!

I am a former baseball player. My problem was the pull/hook since I really could mash that baseball. Using the Single Plane Golf Swing and your instructions helped me get down to a 9 hcp. Thanks!

Don't believe it if anyone says that a baseball-inspired swing doesn't work for golf. Baseball players know how to move a stick with speed and accuracy. Those skills are highly relevant to golf. All it takes is a bit of adjustment to setup positions and BAM. Single Plane techniques fit well with baseball neuromuscular patterns. When I am helping a new golfer to learn, I always ask what sports they have played, to gauge what motion patterns they have grooved, and how they talk about various motions. If they say baseball, I think "Yes! This is going to be easy".

Thanks Kirk. I started playing golf at the beginning of this year (obsessively) and you/Tony have taken me to a 13 hcp MUCH sooner than should have been possible otherwise. Once I dial in my putting I may be able to break into the 70's which would be absolutely amazing. This swing/setup just WORKS.

Thank you for sampling/customizing the single plane golf swing. I have recently been incorporating it into my game and have seen much improvement in my iron play but struggled with my metals, form the faults you identified. I find the single plane easier on the my aging body too. Your channel is going to be a big help.

I took your advice and ordered 3 jumbomax ultra light small grips. Tried my driver 7 wood and 6 iron. They really worked very well on all 3. I am now in the process of upgrading all my grips. I might add for others, I have installed a lot of various grips on my clubs and friends as well, BUT THESE grips are the HARDEST to install of any grip I ever tried. LOL.. I "blew off" and saved my nearly new Golf pride grips without issue. I also had to use the "tire pump" to get these JUMBOMAX grips all the way on. And yes I use plenty of grip solvent, but that hard rubber base on the bottom of these grips is very TIGHT. I used a tool and did stretch that rubber out on my second and third install, but it was easier, but still required air pressure to get them all the on.......BUT AGAIN well worth the effort on the course. Thanks

I love these grips. I have installed hundreds of them without issue except for one grip which had extra rubber in it. I wonder if yours were okay? Mine slide right on. I squirt grip solvent inside the grip about 10 pumps and then shake it inside the grip..then from there let it out of the grip to cover the tape, then slide on. I have the club in a vice which helps as well.

Kirk, very helpful. i like your practical approach to helping people hit it better. I figured out some of these items by trial and error. I am hitting it well now but my first 3-6 holes of each round are unpredictable and then around hole 7/8 everything clicks. i recently shot 78 three times in a row which is a new record for me. my question is: how do you start the swing? i am moving everything back with the left shoulder but find that the contact inconsistent if i do it too fast or too slow. thanks again for taking a practical approach to getting better.

I do not think about how to start my swing. I just do it focused on making great impact. How do you begin when you throw a ball? Do you think about it? Glad you like the concept.

Thanks for the video and I'm going to start practicing today. Just curious if the interlocking grip affects it at all? Thanks again

Not at all. As long as the hand orientation does not change you can use an overlap, interlock, or ten finger grip.
@markpoppe86813 жыл бұрын
Last year I switched to the GP cp2 pro jumbo grips. Using your guidelines I see my hand is a little small for it, but old injuries made standard sizes harder to grip. My contact has improved tremendously since switching to larger grips. Do you ever run a school in Canada?

@@Setup4Impact I hope you do so! Your channel has given me hope. I'm almost 60, strong, but work related injuries to my knees make some of the golf swings out there a painful experience. As a right handed player, putting pressure on my left leg while twisting my leg to finish the swing is a great way to be hobbling around for 2 days after.

How big are these grips compared to the Wynn Dri tac jumbo? I'm in Southern Indiana and coming back from several surgeries after a severe car accident, who can I contact to get personal instruction? Very interested in this. Thanks Kirk. Regards, Eric Kimmel

Hi Eric, The JumboMax UltraLite grips are much thicker than the Wynn grips. I am teaching in South Florida where I live. You can get all info on schools and lessons at setup4impact.com

All that said, how about a SLOW MOTION FOCUS on take away back swing and exactly when the hinge begins...sometimes I’m too high trying to find that right back swing angle, thanks
@Setup4Impact3 жыл бұрын
For some a slower feel is good, or like a pause at the top. For others fast works well. If you get the setup correct including grip strength and rotate properly around your spine the backswing plane angle should be fine.

Hi Kirk. I made great progress with setup for impact but always struggle with accuracy if I wrist cock. So I don't wrist cock or intentionally wrist cock at all. How do you square the club face if wrist cock comes into swing?

I love supersized grips - I have JumboMax on all my clubs. Before they were available, I made my own by wrapping layers of tennis grip tape onto the largest grip that was available. That's still a good way to test whether you will like a giant grip. A pack of several strips of tennis grip tape costs less than a single JumboMax grip, and if you don't like it you can just unwrap it to revert to the old grip. Also saves the cost of having someone install the grips - assuming that you don't do your own grip installation, which is not difficult.

@@honuputters1891 Funny you mention tennis. I'm a tennis player and just this week I put JumboMax on my irons too. Huge game improvement, better than any change from a swing tip on KZbin. Feels a lot more like tennis now, where you easily know where the club face is pointing.
