K3-VE Cylinder head replacement with Timing Chain Set up

In the video I replace a cylinder head on a K3-VE engine. This is fitted to a Daihatsu Terios but the engine is in a lot of early Toyotas as well
Head Bolts
Stage 1 20Nm
Stage 2 33 Nm
Stage 3 + 90'
Cam Bearings
13Nm
Inlet Cam Sprocket
47Nm
Timing Tensioner and timing cover
Could find specs but ran with 13Nm

Thanks for the video,very helpful. I have a 1.5 Terrios. Not much problems as I change my oil and filters often. Replaced coil packs and had to repair the Gearbox. The lay shift bearings siezed up and broke out of the housing side by the bellhousing side. Had a great gearbox guy weld it up and replace bearings and seals.I suspect it left the factory with hardly any oil in the box. When I did the clutch kit previously I filled the box with 2 liters of oil. I did buy it from a friend at 80000km and he did tell me about the gearbox noise. I just never got round to stripping it and replacing the bearings and seals. So I could have prevented this failure. I did think it strange that the box was noisy at such low milage. I want to throw off the emission crap that's on it and put a oil catch tank on. As it is a direct injection. In my country it's not a problem to run without smog controll. Do I need to reprogram the computer or can it relearn itself after I throw all that stuff off?. Any help would be appreciated.

I can't answer your question but I tell where I'm at with my sirion. It's had four owners, bought from the dealership back in 2003. Leaking oil from the valves still runs, and to put seafoam trans tune to clean up transmission works better than before. Change idle sensor twice, changed radiator. About to a gasket set change: head gasket new valve seals new rocker cover gasket. I know it'll be a real sleeper when I'm finish with the tlc

Not 100% sure as there were some engine updates that may have included camshaft profile changes. As you are stuck I would try is out, but it will be a bit of a gamble. 🤔

It's an idler pulley for one of the assessory belts.

Yes it is a M9 triple square or spline bit. They are not a common size.

Double check at 8:45. there is a double mark that goes on the crank sprocket and single marks for the cams.

@@killawattgarage hi, thanks for answering, yes, I got it sorted out, turns out that if you hold the intake camshaft and apply a little bit of force counterclockwise while applying a bit of force on the crankshaft but clockwise, all the slack off the chain falls on the side of the tensioner. Although, the tensioner rack always fell between teeth, so I'm not 100% sure if the chain is not stretched, since I didn't found any way of checking that in the manual

I replaced the tappets into the same place, I couldn't get replacement tappets. I measured the clearance and they were close to the specs. Inlet .14-.24mm and Exhaust .27-.37mm

Holy Moly!!! Just spotted that missed placed O-Ring. I went back the the unedited raw footage and I it was fixed prior to bolting it all up. Thanks for picking that up, Great Work!! For those reading the comment at 12:29 you can see the O-Ring for the variable valve timing was misplaced. This would have caused the variable Valve timing to not function and would produce a check engine light oil with oil pressure escaping.
