Got a K40 about a week ago, really happy with it. The optics seem to be in good alignment out of the box, the bed has a removable flush plate covering the clamp in those things, and the top of the bed seems to be about 1.5-2mm below the focal point of the lens. The extractor fan seems to be a decent equipment fan with a good flow, not one of those junky plastic boxes most of them apparently come with, and the extraction nozzle inside is the full width of the working area and seems quite effective, and it came with one of those spiral foil type hoses, which seems a bit more substantial than the blue plastic ones I've seen with other people's. All in all, I'm very happy with it, as most of the things which everyone says you absolutely must modify seem to have been done for me. All I've had to do myself is properly to earth the case, and to install an ammeter in series with the tube, since I got one of the ones with a digital display. All in all, having looked into these machines a couple of times over the years, I'm only sorry I didn't take the plunge much sooner.

Im upgrading my K40 clone to a 60 watt tube and power supply. I also have a Meanwell supply from an old Ender 3 pro I want to use , keeping the main PSU strictly for the tube driver. However, the wiring is proving to br problematic for me. I wish we could post photos here, too for a better example of what Im about. The stock 40 watt supply is radically different from the Cloudray M60 as far as connections go. I searched the internet for wiring diagrams but no luck for my specific power supplys. your video is excellent in as much as it addresses other issues I will face in modding. Thank you!

For the front vents, you can increase the air flow through them simply by twisting all of the metal strips running up and down. About 15-20 degrees each should do it

Just like to say something that might help anyone - I've put a 12v PC type fan mounted on the inside of the door blowing air towards the rear of the extraction port ( that I've removed as it got in the way and useless as everyone knows! But putting the fan on the door(edited) > on the inside) has solved all smoke problems as well as a micro switch that cuts off the laser if the lid is lifted, Anyway great video! From the UK.
@ga57124 жыл бұрын
Is there a 12V supply on the board that can be used or are you using a separate supply? Also how are you getting on with coral draw? I've never done any of this design work before but gather the default board driver and coral draw are Crap... I've seen many suggestions of swapping out the board.

Hi Eric. I'm here in the UK, That ideal of your's of removing that exhaust port at the back makes sense to me too, I've cut mine back and fitted an inline extraction fan which is meant for bathrooms. But it doesn't remove the smoke as well as I would like, so I'm going to remove the port as you have done and hopefully that will improve things. Thanks for the tip. Best Regards Richard

@KodaKayde Yes, it makes a big difference to the smoke extraction, and having some spacers under the front of the lid of about 1/2 inch helps with the airflow across the bed. I have sold my K40 now and bought a 4060 laser machine which is based on the K40 but has a bed size of 400 x 600mm cutting area with air assist and a big extraction fan fitted as standard. The only mod I've done to this is fit a big air-assist compressor which gives me very clean cuts.

Loads of interesting content fella, you missed one crucial thing though. When you took the bed out and messed up the laser mirrors. How did you realign the laser once you put the bed back in?? That was a very important step to miss out. I'd love to extend my printing footprint but I'm not confident in the realignment of the laser. Please help Many thanks in advance sir. @MKmeMedia4 жыл бұрын
SW Ontario. Mine is unheated- my only concern is firing it up when cold and having the thermal delta from glass to coolant trigger an explosion/crack. So far at freezing there was no issue. Debating on putting a block heater in the coolant and just leave it on all winter to avoid the chance of destroying the tube. So far its fine
@Luis__Martin.4 жыл бұрын
You can solve that by installing two lamps of about 30-40W in the part of the tube, so it will maintain a temperature in the tube.
