I have a DMR repeater that I can hit but no Dstar. I would also like to have the amount of room you have as I am limitted to a small desk in the corner of the guest room. But it is nice to see a shack as well decked out as your is. It gives me something to dream about.

However, it seems the voltage display and the on/off switch do not illuminate. This seems odd especially since the switch appears to be one that would illuminate. I see yours is not illuminated so, I guess mine is functioning as intended. Don't they know that HAMS love lights? lol

8:21......."the internal speaker from the 7610 sucks"? That really surprises me now. I have only one of my 5 radios in the shack that does not have an external speaker - and that is the 7610, whose internal speaker sounds excellent. With all others I have external speakers connected because with most rather smaller devices of course the internal speakers can not really bring good sound. But with the ICOM 7610 it is not really necessary... (I think). Fine Video, Mike.........thanks for taking me through your shack! There comes quite a bit of material together over time, hi...😉😉👍👍 73 Mike DO1MDE

Here is a Mailbag Monday Question: I have two Rigid 18v 4ah lithium ion power tool batteries that someone gave me. I was thinking of making a battery box to use for POTA. I would like to put battery adapters on each to get wire connectors and then connect them in parallel and then connect to a step down transformer to get to 12v. Then I would connect it to a fuse box and then to LEDs, powerpole, banana jack, etc... My question relates to charging it. Would I connect a powerpole jack directly to the batteries (bypassing the step down transformer)? Does having two batteries in parallel matter in terms of configuration? And can you recommend a charger? I have a LifePo battery box modeled on your Geek series with a 12v Bioenno and a 12v charger. But if I build something with the power tool batteries, I am assuming I would need something that puts out 18v? Or maybe my whole idea is dumb?!?
@hamradiotube Жыл бұрын
Hmm, that’s a good question. I would think the most efficient thing to do would be to charge with your 18v charger directly to the batteries. But you could use power poles for that of course.

Your junk level might even be more than mine, tough we haven't compared musical instruments yet. The window cat doesn't count, so this was a sad video for me. When you do try the window screen ground, I'd be really interested to hear how it compares over normal earth and desert. I don't have any nearby desert (beach sand isn't dry), so, for now, I'll be limited to comparing clay to granite ledge. I'm guessing that it needs ground conductivity to work really well.
@hamradiotube Жыл бұрын
Satan wanted me to tell you he was enjoying some very much needed sleep on his king size bed during the filming of this video and allocated the window cat as his stand in. He hopes you can understand just how tired he was from sleeping all day. He just needed a little "cat nap". I assure you, all production was still under his reign and he approves this video. As for music gear, I did a Mailbag Monday a while ago showing all my gear you can check out here kzbin.info/www/bejne/fautfXlrgrx9apYsi=hunG3f49rGGNaAb-&t=763 Window screen is still to be determined.
