I enjoyed the video, and the people, but I have to agree with others that to me a factory is where they make the actual cable, not where they put the connectors on. Doesn’t mean I won’t try them , just talking about semantics on the video title. My go to place has always been USACOAX/MPD Digital in Georgia because also USA made and $14.99 flat rate shipping. I heard they were sold though so I will have to look into further to make sure nothing is changed.

Hello again Mike. Thanks for the tour of ABR Industries. I am currently 100% ABR coax use here in the shack and when out activating a POTA park. Thankful that Shannon and Chuck were available to speak with you and Chuck was available for the shop tour. The quality of this coax/connectors is amazing and I am pleased that ABR Industries is a US based company there in Texas. Additionally I like the detail of the heat shrink and labeling at each end of the coax. Nice touch. I am planning to continue using ABR products.

I have been ordering direct from ABR for years and Shannon continues to provide top notch customer service. My last order I needed some jumpers with unique connector and length and type configurations. They had my order ready the next day and was exactly as I specified. All my coax cable is ABR and was ordered direct some have been in service for years with no issues.

Having choices is a good thing. With that said I have to ask…. ABR or M&P. I have M&P for a jumper and 75’ for my EFHW and love the connectors they use.

The first time I ordered coax direct from ABR Industries I drove 30 miles to pick up my coax for my two Winlink gateways. Shannon brought my order out to my car as soon as I arrived, and she was very friendly. I use ABR-240 on my 40' Spiderbeam mast and it works great! Thanks Mike for giving us a tour of their shop! 73 KD5YOU

Fantastic video, and it certainly has raised my interest in ABR Industries as a cable supplier. However, I have to agree with some of the previous comments in asking the proverbial $64K question, does ABR industries actually manufacture their own coaxial cable? If not, who manufactures the actual cable and, is that company American owned and operated? I ask because the term "Made in America" over the years, has increasingly been misused and, more often than not, actually means "Assembled in America from foreign parts/suppliers" Granted, it seem like the video implies that the actual cable is manufactured in America, but is never explicitly stated. Indeed, at one point he used the term "our supplier" verses our factory. So again, who makes the actual cable?

Not sure. But the cables are clearly marked made in America on the jacket.

Hi Mike, from the title i was expecting to see how Co Ax is actually made, rather than the fitting of connectors, that said, I am impressed with the set up, and the range of cables available. Just a thought for a future show, how about having a Ham You Tuber near a Co Ax factory doing a video tour for you, with a Zoom or similar link so they could run the camera on site while you interview, present and direct the camera work from your home studio? Obviously it would take a bit of setting up, but it is not so far removed from news media outlets do everyday, come to think of it, given co operation from other Hams and Tubers world wide, it should be possible to interview and show manufacturers from anywhere in the world, where you would interview from a US perspective, which would obviously have a different slant to an interview from a UK presentation. Just a thought. Jim M7BXT

They are a cable house, not a cable manufacturer or "Factory". Belden or General Cable are examples of a cable manufacturer. ABR builds cable assemblies from components like the cable itself and connectors. Right from their website: "ABR Industries is a full-service cable assembly and bulk cable facility." They sell assemblies and resell bulk material. This does not detract from the quality by any means, it just means that they are beholden to the quality of their supplier when it comes to the individual components. They can only have direct control of the quality of their assembly work. This is how many things are in the industrial world. Fiber optics come to mind as well. I will always support companies like ABR, because they fill a very important niche, like custom built made to order assemblies, that the major mfgs would not take on, unless you had orders in the thousands.

I'm thinking that if you build a short length of coax like maybe 1 foot, you can order it with ferrites installed, and that section would be your choke. You can order ferrites with any length of coax they offer.

and i thought noise in a auto scenario was alternator based not battery, eg alternators create a electromagnetic field that is picked up electronic devices and improperly shielded devices and not the battery ??, he should have known the battery does not create a eltromagnetic field
@donnyarmstrong9559
@donnyarmstrong9559 2 жыл бұрын
Your not thinking about the components correctly... the vehicle's alternator creates what??? D/C, nope, its an alternator, so it creates A/C. The diode rectifier within the alternator effectively "squares up" the sine wave to emulate DC voltage, the battery acts as a filter to further make that voltage more pure DC. If one 9or more) of the diodes begins to fail, the A/C component being produced becomes to much for the battery to correct effectively. It will ruin your battery as well as other D/C loving components within the vehicle.
