Ka-50 Guide - Air to Air Combat

Air-to-air combat is absolutely not the Shark's forte, but it can be done. From range, the Vikhrs are very effective, and the gun can be used either with the fixed reticle for point-blank fighting, or in gimballed mode with a Shkval lock.

Turning on A/A Head on mode actually puts the vikhr into a proximity fuse mode. In real life it's used to attack soft targets like infantry with the blast fragmentation rod, not the armor piercing shaped charge. In DCS it's not modeled.

Wait what? You can get CAP to help you out? How do you do that? Whenever I yell for cap typically nobody is anywhere near me, they're all chilling at their base or something. And of course when you don't need them and there hasn't been an enemy fighter in hours they're all over you.

Sorry, man, usually I reply to comments same day, but I guess I missed the notification from yours. To answer your question, 1) make sure all the relevant stab channels are on (the square blue buttons) 2) make sure Flight Director is on 3) use gentle inputs, don't throw the stick around too quickly 4) practice 5) curves, which make small inputs smaller, and big inputs bigger, and can help if you're overcontrolling -- keybindings -> Axis Assign -> select relevant axis (pitch/roll/yaw) -> Axis Tune -> most people like something between 8 and 30, but experiment and see what suits you
