The Ethan Becker designed BK-9 and BK-10 Crewman Knife from Ka-Bar are two ultimate outdoor fixed blades that you can chop and baton your way to happiness with. Believe me I beat them up. In this video review I compare these knives to many popular fixed blades within the KZbin Bushcraft scene. You'll see old and new favorites like: the Esee Junglas II, the Laser Strike, the Carothers 10" Chopper, a Schrade SCHF-52 with ducktape, the Buck 119, a Dogs Head Utility Knife, and the Skrama. Will the big fixed blade BK9 get through the log- watch the whole video to find out. In fact just by watching this video you can become a bushcrafting prepper tactical survivlist. No real skills require. I'm proof.

Nice realistic review man, finally someone who says it how it is! Let's face it most of us really just screw around with these things (I'm guilty of) and we don't really need too many knives but we still want them. To make it further sad let's say due to my geographic location (and salary) accessing one of the really good ones is not all that possible, so I basically just watch these videos of the same thing like an idiot. Recently I purchased though (almost by error) an Ontario RAK so enough to say I'm excited and let's see how this thing comes out, I hope it doesn't break as soon as I try it or else you'll see an adult crying. Peace!

The BK9 is my absolute favorite camp knife. Mine came with the smaller knife in the sheath also, so I don't need to bring any other knives for camping. I also bought the micarta handles, although they've seen so much use that they are now very much darker. A lanyard is pretty important to tie around the end hole for safety just in case you lose it chopping down small trees.

When I first saw the BK-9, I thought it was the ugliest ass knife around I mean look at the damn thing, it looks like a kitchen knife with bed liner sprayed on it!! I had to find out what all the bullshit was about, so I made a terrible life decision and bought one for about $150 Canadian. I cut down a damn tree with this thing, I don't care much for batoning which I'm sure it will do just fine if it could chop a damn tree down, I live in Canada so there are plenty of softwood trees here and I could chop a lot of wood with this knife and still slice paper which is my sharpness test after knife use. I must say, this is the perfect knife for camping/survival/yard work. I don't understand why some people take the coating off these knives, it's there for a reason. The zytel handles are perfect because I can put matches, striker, fishing line and hooks inside the handle and fits pretty tight, there is no rattle. Why waste money on handles when the stock ones are the best?!? The BK-9 is my ugliest knife, but it's a great knife that can multi-task and that's what I want to be able to do with this knife. Rambo would be proud!!

After watching, pausing, rewinding, watching again, and watching in slow-mo I think I finally figured what you were doing wrong. That log is just too small. the bk9 and bk10 are not flat ground. they are a high scandi grind. the bk9 is pretty dope looking. Ive always liked the bk7. Im going to pick one up from amazon. its covid season and I need to purge, i mean chop things down, I mean peaceful protest... haha j/k this tip design is super aggressive. I've seen pig hunting spears that look similar to this. the point being that a survival knife should function well as a spear tip . this of course enables you to defend yourself with a stronger weapon, but also hunt larger animals or increase you rates of sucess
@AdvancedKnifeBro
@AdvancedKnifeBro 4 жыл бұрын
Hey man. Thanks for the comment. Your first sentence is wrong though. Check the Becker website. www.kabar.com/products/product.jsp?item=BK9 Pretty hard to confuse these knives grind with High Scandinavian. And furthermore- what people refer to as Scandi grinds- like Puukos are still a type of flat grind. agrussell.com/knife-articles/blade-grinds I have Puukos, and moras with scandinavian grinds, and both the Beckers you're referring to are pretty hard to compare as a similar grind. You might argue that a lot of scandinavian grinds are not true scandinavian grinds- but that's a whole other thing. And even if you were talking about a “Sabre grind”, a Sabre grind can be flat, but not all flat grinds are Sabre. So you see calling it a flat grind actually is a safe bet- because flat is a very easy to distinguish type of grind... that is the basis for other sub genres of blade grinds that use flats- like scandinavian or sabres.
