I don't get the Aus-8 hate, I've shown over and over it's a solid performer. I've yet to find a budget D2 that cuts more than the KaBar, Ontario or Cold Steel Aus-8.

Steel snobs! 🤪
@blueeyeswhitedragon98394 жыл бұрын
I remember when Aus-8 was the current super steel ( many companies were using carbon steel, 420, GIN1, Aus-6, etc.) Nothing wrong with Aus-8, or 440C for that matter. Hey, we are talking about EDC pocket knives, not turbo jet fan blades, or thrust vectoring nozzles.
@Outpost_764 жыл бұрын
@@WeFightTheDark except, unlike Aus-8 most all import D2 is done poorly. I've tested many examples over and over with the same results. We are talking production D2, ones that actually do well are very rare as I showed in my last video. I do agree most can't tell a difference in steels, M390 for example is hyped up and in reality 95% of it in production knives is at S30V performance levels.

This is probably the best EDC I have ever used. I have bought a few of them. They last. They perform. They are sharp. They are light. The belt clip works and it’s easy to get out of any pocket. And when it does get beat up or worn out cheap to replace. I’m retiring my old orange one to the tackle box. Buying the D2 for the daily. I’m a CDL driver. I deliver water. You’ll use a knife quite often. But corrosion resistance a nice perk as my knives get wet. People often refer to this as the best under $50 knife. I have carried knives at a $100. And this thing I’d still rather use. It’s like an Opinel No. 8 or 9. They just got it right for the money. Those of you guys carrying more expensive knives or thinking about doing so. The Dozier is such a great design it’s almost hard to recommend spending more. I honestly prefer it over a lot of my knives. And when it does get beat up you won’t feel bad. Also I agree about the dual thumb stud but as you said it’s never really bothered me.
@Grumpy11A4 жыл бұрын
I've had mine about 2 weeks and love it! Been using it around the house, yard, and garden, it's still holding the edge. BTW, that foliage green handle fits great on the D2 blade, I swapped it out the day I got it.

I just got a D2 Rat2 to replace my lost AUS8..The handle is a little small for me but I don’t like the size of the Rat1.. K-Bar was smart to use D2, I’m sure OKC has done well using D2 on the Rats. Rats aren’t fancy but most are made well, nice action, centered and good lock up..Usually, just higher end knives have decent consistency and not many. A few are the ZT 0562, Spyderco Sage 1, BM 560 Freek, MT Socom Elite (manuals). The Rat isn’t quite as consistent but it’s good. I’m off track, the video has me wanting to handle the Dozier. For a user, I’d pick a back lock hands down. I handled the Spyderco Native Chief in store and was impressed. Very well made and smooth back lock. I don’t want more 4” blades though. Look forward to the best 10 back locks video.

I’ve probably had 120 mostly higher end production knives over the years. For a user, I’d pick a back lock hands down. They are strong and reliable. I learned to overlook minor stuff on good knives. My ZT 0640 was 250 but it feels like a Sebenza. Some complain about the ‘ugly green’ carbon fiber but I like it, something different. The clip is far from deep carry. It has some quirks but overall outstanding knife. Best ZT I’ve owned/handled (many).

Yeah, I don't mind flipping the knife over after I take it outta my pocket. Usually for safety reasons, I move the clip to the other side on knives with a large flipper tab. The list of knives Amazon won't ship to my location just outside of Buffalo is ridiculously arbitrary. No problem buying Cold Steel knives through them. Certain flippers they did, but most they won't, and even some thumb stud deploy knives are a no go. I never can tell what they'll say no to. Really aggravating because NY State laws are not the same as NY City laws. We can actually own, and use full auto knives for hunting yet get told no for knives that aren't even autos.

That would be kinda frustrating Clint.

@@TheKnifeBeater I know it's a legal liability issue on the part of Amazon. These have always been a good user. I have given many as gifts because the quality is always great. This is what people have wanted for a while.

Hey, as an animal rights activist, including human beings I want to remind everybody that Amazon now has the ability in iOS to use Amazon smile which donates something like 2% of profits to the charity of your choice.. :)
@LB-np5zv4 жыл бұрын
That’s cool but remember that Amazon should be donating their own money to causes like this already. All that 2% more from the public does is provide the richest man in the world another means to pay less in taxes. You are helping these wealthy middle man corporations with charity schemes more so than the charity itself. If you decide to donate, please donate directly to speed up the process of them receiving your contribution. Sometimes the time frame they receive aid can make all the difference in whether they are successful or not.
