The real name of that courtesan born in the soil of Faizabad was Amiran, but the name given to her by Lucknow, she is known by that name even today. Nawabs were also crazy about the fun of his eyes, that's why even the heart and life were sacrificed for him.
Friends, behind the splendor of courtesans' chambers, there is a sad ruin of their life, in whose debris the painful story of becoming a courtesan is buried. Mirza Hadi Ruswa's "Umrao Jaan Ada" is the story of one such vivacious, charming courtesan whose unfortunate past is buried behind the tinkling of her curls. This is the story of a girl named Ameeran, who is kidnapped by a criminal named Dilawar Khan and sold to a brothel in Lucknow. In this way the innocent Amiran courtesan became Umrao Jaan.
But just like a newly married bride who reached her in-laws house knows that now she has to spend her life here till death and she starts living in her present by covering the memory of her home with a sheet of new land, in the same way the innocent girl who became Umrao from rich soon hardened her heart and made herself suitable for the environment and soon became the pride of Lucknow's brothel. He met those who loved him and also met those whom Umrao wanted.
