Great game, still learning the format but couldn't Isshai have attacked in urza rather then Malcolm player and killed them to commander damage?

Attacking Urza's player would have not made any difference, Urza cannot fly and Rowan was not even in the field, so was actually an easier target. Also, Urza's player and Malcom's player would try to stop Ishai anyway, but I doubt it would have happened any differently as it did in the game.
