Great video and activation. Really enjoyed the intro scenes. I have either that or a similar 11 meter antenna and it works great on 10 meters, Never thought to try it on 12 meters but I definitely will now that I've seen this. On my last pedestrian mobile outing I was able to make contacts with my AX1 on 20, 17, 15, and 10 meters, and on the outing before that on 12 meters. The KX2 is a great /PM rig! (I do "real" /PM, sending and receiving CW while walking around.) Thanks for the info on the Keyport adapter, will have to look into that.

Also... Glad you steered me toward the ProAudio folks. I've been looking for a good source for Mix 31 snap-on ferrites and I noticed that they carry the "real deal" Fair-Rite brand. I just ordered a set from them. I didn't want to trust some no-name brand from Amazon. I have a couple of noisy wall-wart xformers that cause interference when I'm trying to use my portable general coverage receiver for SWLing. Hope they do the trick!

I have a KX2 and I am always amazed how well it and its tuner works. I do enjoy having it for portable opps. I typically use a Packtenna random wire. Your antenna was interesting for faster deployment.

That was neat. An HF HT ! Ha Ha I tried it one time on 20 meters and made one Q on SSB. Neat video. Barry, KU3X

Nice contacts! Very interesting antenna idea and experiment. I too was going to order a KH1 until I found out the ridiculous waiting time. The side tone on the KH1 was annoying as well. Been trying to buy a used KX2, but they are few are far between, and I always seem to be the 2nd or 3rd response to the ads and miss out...lol! 73!

I found my (used) KX2 about 12 weeks into what was an order for a new one. I cancelled the order with Elecraft and bought the used one. Super happy with it. Good luck on finding one, new or used - they're worth the wait but don't know if I'd be able to say that about a KH1. 73

I’m curious about one thing: with the KX2 sitting up like that, how do you plug in the key? It appears that you have some sort of an adapter. Fun video, BTW. 72 de W5RST

The adapter is the 'Keyport' from ProAudio: proaudioeng.com/kx-keyport/ It covers up the square hole and still provides a way to attach a set of paddles. 72, John

Fun stuff! Thanks for taking us along. It's good for me to listen to code. I'm not getting a lot of activation time at the moment. 73 de AG7TX
