A big thing for me when it comes to the Sabres struggles is the Mittelstadt/Byram trade. Sabres are currently lacking a top6 forward (probably 2-3 honestly), and Mittelstadt would look very good in that role still. Especially with Cozens/Quinn declining and Benson not taking a step. Bringing in Byram feels similar to the Sens bringing in Chychrun. A good player, but not the right fit for the team. Sabres already had Dahlin/Power on the left side (similar to Sanderson/Chabot in OTT), so either one was playing their off side or was going to be on the 3rd pair. If they didn’t do that trade, kept Skinner for the year and tried to get one of the UFD RD (Roy, Pesce, Montour) there team would look a lot better imo.

Bang on with the Sens they definitely need a 2nd liner and a top 4 RHD if Zub continues to constantly be injured. I still think they can make the playoffs with this team rn which is all Sens fans want at the moment just to see how they handle the playoffs and then make acquisitions based on the issues that appear in the playoffs. I think you guys are a bit off with the bottom 6 sure they started the year really slow but the last month or so Pinto, Greig, Gregor, and Cousins have kind of got going as well as Ostapchuk coming in and playing very well in the 4C role. I think it took some time for those guys to understand how Green wants them playing especially when it comes to the forecheck and transition play and seems like they are executing it well backchecking hard with high pressure and counter attacking with their speed

Fowler is a stop gap for our younger defenseman to develop. Broberg has been a hit, Jiricek has played well in his first games back and Lindstein is gonna be a good 2nd pair guy in like 3 years. We need one more defensive prospect to have a good d core in the future.

Sens bottom 6 been scoring lately. I truly believe when Perron comes back they have 4 good lines. A good second liner would help though, but those are easy enough to find through trade
