Dear Kari, It is a fact that no one can work without required resources, both physical & human. But the matter is the END RESULT. As respected Democrat Araham Lincoln said "YOU CANT FOOL ALL THE PEOPLE ALL THE TIME" We will wait and see because "END JUSTFICES THE MEAN" Thank You for Your Efforts KARI.
@@kaarigechannel1, that is incorrect. As per the extract shown at 23:35, it states for the “official ‘vehicle/vehicles’ of the minister or deputy minister…” Which to my understanding means in either case of either one or more vehicles, the 900 litre limit applies.
Why are we still trying to micro manage the Ministries like looking after kindergarten children? Let’s ask for a Business Plan to generate goods & services and a Budget so they can be reviewed & approved based on various KPIs. Why are we trying to manage the # of cell phones bills, pencils & erasers etc without focusing on the outcome: (ex: quality of the drawings these children produce)? Shouldn’t we grow up this late in the 21st century.

Kaariyawasm, I think we should try to remember the important fact that this NPP government came into power from a Sri Lankan State and people who have been used to "normalized" corruption, criminality, murders, drugs, morally degenerate behavior and theft among normal people as well as politicians of the previous governments. NPP government may or may not be 100% non-corrupt, progressive government. We really do not know. It is too early to pass an accurate judgement on them. However, we better bear in mind that there is no such "animal" with the name "100% non-corrupt". What is clear is that the State of Sri Lanka is still rampant with corruption, criminality and theft, even though the NPP government is corruption and criminality free(at least at this stage). That because it takes some considerable amount of time to transform a society from a degenerate status to a progressive one with a collective self respect and self esteem. State is still the same degenerate Sri Lankan State, but even the most progressive, non-corrupt, decent government cannot get hold of the State and transform the State, and the so called "Deep State" into a decent, orderly one overnight. Is this NPP government the one to do that? We do not know is the short answer. If they are the one to do that, then they don't have 50 years to that. They must put a solid foundation within their first term of less than five years. There is no magical way to achieve such a mammoth task in such a short time without the heavy use of legal-justice system, the law enforcement system to get rid of the degenerate aspects, people, players, businesses and politicians and whatnot. You can be rest assured that there will be social unrest during those procedures and actions. Here is the real kicker. The country is still broke and relies on donations from the West, India and China to feed the people with the basic food items. That is the real problem with launching a real, massive clean-up project to get rid of the crooks and criminals in the politics, government departments and the private sector. Taking a gamble with calculated risks is the ONLY way to achieve in a relatively short term like a five year government terms. There no magic bullets. Is this NPP government and Anura are the ones to do it? NO idea. We need to watch them, encourage them and nudge them into action. Eg. Like what you may be doing with these videos. You better carve into your mind the relative reality of what this NPP government is about as opposed to the hopeless criminals of the previous governments, and particularly the governments since the irreversible and era ending collapse of the 1970's coalition government of Sirima Bandaranayake. The rapid and potentially irreversible degeneration of the Sinhala Buddhist society in particular(as opposed to the Tamils or Muslims) started since 1977 and no need to argue about that fact. This is not a JVP government. It is a government of a broader NPP movement. NPP was invented to address the problem of the known JVP's old brand's inability to reach the vast majority of the populace in terms of the votes in an election. For that reason alone, do not expect a 100% clean, entirely corruption free, stupidity free government from the NPP and Anura. NPP is the dumbed down version of Wijeweera's ideologue JVP(regardless of their all the shortcomings). "Dumbing down" has been an absolute necessity for the last three decades, particularly since the genocidal carnage of youth in 1987-89 and the collapse of the world's socialist block and the loss of belief in complete socialist States and system. The leader, Anura, has reformed the JVP as well to fit with the aspects and methods of post modern economic and political liberalism that has rapidly taken over the world since early 1990's. I guess you know the history of this version of the JVP since 2010-11 in relation to the internal and ideological changes that they've been through. This JVP is considerably different from the clear socialistic and clearly progressive path of the old school JVP. The JVP central committee team have been saying that this is the path we need to follow in order to survive and flourish in the global environment where the post modern liberal democracy with more or less of private large corporation capitalism have been the major political and economic trend. We do not know whether this so called highly capitalized, large corporation driven post-modern democracy is the path to progress(never mind about utopia or prosperity), but we are at least stuck with it for the time being due to all these global tendencies and trends. As far as I can see due to those reasons and many other reasons, this NPP government is an interim experiment of ordinary people's political and economic aspirations. In order to attain the "great country" of economic and cultural prosperity that you may be imagining in your head, you need to achieve the economic recovery first. Only after that you can start touching the foundation of the social and cultural degeneration related issues of the post 1977 social downfall (if not the past few centuries of cultural degeneration of mainly Sinhala Buddhist people under colonialism). Remember the pre-election promises of the NPP? Particularly the things like putting an end to corruption and criminality of the government and private sector, putting an end to the widespread drug trafficking, drug use and the crime issues related to drugs, etc etc? Do you really believe that is really attainable under a liberal democratic government under post modern capitalistic economic model? Not a chance in hell. The best you can achieve is an ongoing "management" of corruption, criminality and the control of elicit drug use and related crimes. This is what's been happening in all the western developed countries under modern corporate capitalism. You can see that even with life long jail terms and death penalty for drug trafficking, what the countries like Indonesia, Singapore, USA etc have achieved. Drugs are still going good as well as the related crimes. All the developed country politicians systematically and systemically steal public money to ensure their long term comfort and survival. If you do not believe me, find out about the pensions and other payments of the retired politicians of countries like Australia, New zealand, Canada, UK, etc etc. Even their pensions are clearly the equivalents of highway robberies.. Post-modern liberal capitalism ain't even a guarantee that everybody gets to eat, but that's what you have for the time being and that's what's been adopted by the NPP for the time being. You better hope they have enough plans and projects to manage the economy and generate enough cash to buy enough food.
This is all good stuff with good, useful information. However, you are still not describing enough and definitely not explaining your indicated misgivings about the NPP government and their leader. There is something that bothers you in a very fundamental way about the NPP government and you ain't saying what that is. You are saying just enough to indicate that you are nowhere near stupid enough to think that there is a remotely better alternative than the NPP government to try to save the island at this stage. Yet, you are unsettled by something about the NPP government and their leader. What is it?

My interest is in the government's goals and plans, as well as their capabilities to achieve them.

@@kaarigechannel1 Lets give them a bit more time. I can rest assure that they will make mistakes, but believe they won't be irreversible mistakes. After all, it's only been just over two months for this parliament. I think we can forgive them for being cautious as well as giving an appearance of conservative approach to changing things around because of the delicate economic situation. I know they are boasting about the country not being bankrupt anymore, but most of us know better. They need to say things like that because they are in "politics". Truth can be really bad when it is revealed at bad times.
