It's funny you blame people like Prasanth for why Tamil cinema is bad. Reviewers don't make movies and they don't have any impact on producers, directors and actors. It's viewers whom you should blame. And, you can't expect Rajini to act in a movie with a high standard. All recent Rajinii movie are mass movies. Luckily there are a few youngsters like Vijay Sthupathi, Sanuthirakkani, Subburaj who are trying to make good movies. So if you really want to watch good quality movies then mass stars are not whom you should look at.

Jon Snow Understand. I am not happy with his review as well. He's expecting movie makers to make movies which are liked by everyone. To me directors should make movie that they have in their mind. Please note that without Ranjith, there is no character called Kabali. Ranjith crafted Rajini's Kabali character equal to International standards. This is the best Rajini I have ever seen . Young Rajini's make up was not bad at all. Compared to Linga, this movie is Gold :) But yes, the screenplay and story is not up to the expectation. Could have done way better. Having said that, there are many people who like this movie . Will have to wait for a couple of weeks. You never know!!

Palaniappan who also comes from humble background,who went on to become prominent real estate developer with assets worth US$180 Million Non of these people are born rich, they are able to make it through sheer hardwork and persistence. Yes, there will be always be the someone or something trying to bring you down. End of the day, it is you allow this thing to bring you down or move forward and make it in life. Kabali is just a movie. It does not reflect every aspect of life in Malaysia .Of course, there could be some elements in it The tamil community in every part of world will face one problem,come to tamil nadu, you will have to face caste problem. in certain temples,if you are of specific caste they will not allow you in because of your caste. chennai is metropolitan city,but north tamil nadu is primitive area. There if you average tamil of specific caste, you will denied even the fundmental opportunties.Tamil nadu govt is corrupt to the core. Go to the state of maharastra, they will call you "madrasi" ,this is land is only for "marathi manoos" meaning "sons of soil..............

hi, Prashanth and others, FYI: this is not an entertaining movie as before but an historical movie base on true story of indians in Malaysia for many generations till now & obviously, the CRAB story is very much true here , no doubt ... but this movie is only released 0.5% of actual life story of indian communities in here. On behalf, thousands thanks to Director, SUPER STAR & entire teams were involved in this Heart Touching movie was very much appreciated by Malaysian indians endlessly...my daughter's just 11yrs old who don't understand Tamil very well, but she really likes the movie & wanted to watch for one more time, for a sake of true documentary of speechless Malaysian indians in this country... Of-course the songs are superb, but after watched the movie, we do realise the actual meanings of those songs, this movie same as 5 STARS hollywood standard, very natural, no artificial scenes, no overacting & no over reactions, RAJINI sir' was very cool & under control to manage all kind of situations accordingly, as an educated real-life Gang Leader for a Good Cost.... i would like to share something, which is very shocking... were multi characteristic audiences well never made any single annoying sounds from beginning till and of the movie, even tho many scenes been deleted & restricted by local GOV.... real respect for a first time "KABALI"... million thanks to entire teams again, we will never forget this Movie for many Generations, in indeed.... pardon" my english is not that good guys,,,Nandri Vanakkam wt LOVE.....

I am extremely sorry Prasanth ( the commmentator) , you failed to understand the plight of tamil people suffering in Malaysia. First of all, you can see in the beginning of the movie most dialogue was spoken in Malays which is a national language. The main 3 race in Malaysia are the Malays, Chinese and tamil. You can hear and see most tamil drop-out from shool in Malaysia are low class after the age 17 involved into gang culture. In this movie they used gang 43. Some ritual in joining the gang taken place in graveyard of Kaali. The tamil most often works under the Chinese. The main drug business are control by the Chinese and a lot of tamil works under the Chinese as a slave. You can see the unity among the Chinese in Malaysia but not in tamil. Tamil worst enemy can be it's tamil counterpart as what Rajinikanth explained the " Crab story" of tamil people there which is true and which will be accepted by tamil people there.Towards the climax the Chinese villain called Rajinikanth "Keling Raja" as insult.The tamil often name as keling to demean and degrading them. The name of Keling came Kalinga Raja who ruled Malaya once upon time. Similarly Malayali from kerala called the tamil there "pandi" The movie still suspen because in the end of movie a guy called "Tiger" hire to kill Kaabali and then what really happen ? This is similar a Crab story by Rajinikanth where tamil people going to kill his own race which more apparent in tamil culture society there. There are lot of hidden message in this movie, you can't understand by watching this movie once. Therefore i humbly request Prasanth (the commentator) to do some research of this movie. Finally my message to Prasanth you see at the ending part of the movie where someone asked a question to Rajinikanth like why can't you( Rajini) do something about the gang culture there ? Rajinikanth answer was like what is the government intervention on this matter (to prevent gang culture and illegal activities) in Malaysia ! Finally as an actor Rajini must have done some homework knowing what happened to tamil society there and that's reason most cinema shooting taken-placed there in Malaysia. Prasanth i humbly request you that you must come to Malaysia and do some reasearch on tamil people's unity in comparison to other race there. Please talk to the local tamil there about their unity in comparison to other race. Upon release of this movie what the the tamil people in Malaysia think of this movie is important please don't talk about what see the people in Chennai, it's important to see the reaction of tamil people in Malaysia of this movie. The public there in Malaysia accepted this movie as real thing happening in Malaysia. No actor can act in this tamil controversial movie which supported by tamil people there for Rajinikanth.

Mr Prashanth first understand the issues happening around the world. We know about srilanka only because politics has played a role in it. But malaysia equally has tamil diaspora. I have lived there. Among those tamilans living only 5 to 10% flourish rest of them ruled by other races. They have to score really high in exams to even a engineering graduation, it is not so easy as getting a seat in 250 colleges in india. So most of them are in to gangster. This movie speaks about their rights. And I appreciate Ranjith for knowing this fact better than you as a critic. There are certain tamil words Sevanna, vellana , yesal, paikarthu ranjith has taken immense effort to use these words in the movie, Which Billa or any other movie in malaysia misses. Rajini has given wonderful expressions, especially in reunion.I dont want superstar to dance anymore, He is of his age. First learn to be critic and then host ur shows.

I am an Indian. Kabali is an EXCELLENT MALAYSIAN TAMIL MOVIE. Those who know about Malaysian History , Culture, their Problems, will understand and appreciate it. This is the problem with this movie. As just a Tamil Movie, it may not be appreciated. But Malaysian Tamils have their own life style and problems. The story is based on it. According to me , as an employee in Malaysia I Salute this Movie to very great extent. Or a minimum 3-6 months of stay in Malaysia is fair enough to understand and appreciate this movie.

Really disappointed in this review. Prashanth you usually look past the "mass" expectations of a movie where people wants to see the same story all the time. But not in this review.. This was a really different movie from Rajnikanth. No comedy or forced masala. Instead it is a raw gangster movie. Reminded me of those Hong Kong action movies. The movie wasn't predictable at all and overall a good watch. It's not a typical Rajni movie, but I don't understand why people want to see the same thing all the time! If anything this was a perfect movie for Rajnis age! One thing however was that the movie was quite slow in the beginning (after the intro). But the movie really starts taking off when Kabali starks talking about his past. Respect to Rajnikanth for taking on a role like this and not taking the safe road.

Let me be honest. I am not a personal fan of Kabali or Rajinikanth. But I certain see this review as a biased one. I think all director has their rights to decide what they want to produce as a film, let it be like what they want to tell to the world or what they want to highlight. As well, you have the right to say whether or not something is likeable, but you do not have rights to go to such a great length to criticize (especially in such a wrong way) a director. Why do you think that the director should not use a high image actor for the story he wanted to tell? Your question of, 'why do you use a star like Rajinikanth to tell a story like this' is an absolutely ridiculous one. Why do you attach an image to an actor. Or why do you think that a directory's story needs only certain actors (especially from your stand point, not to use an established actor) ? I think that itself makes me question how much you understand movie making ? Why couldn't you watch a movie just as a movie. Not all movies are for entertainment. I think when you watch a movie you have to go with open mind. Be ready to give the 'benefit of doubt' in the right direction. You should be talking about the technicality of the movie and the story telling instead of commenting on story itself is wrong. He has taken a movie after doing so much of research, so obviously he would know more about the ground reality than you or me. Did you take that much of time to do your research before you make fun of such a story especially when you question the closeness to the reality aspect of such story. Just don't get carried away with biased views. As a reviewer, it is important to have open mind, neutral view. The review should be more on the aspect of technicality with which the movie is taken and the story is told, not the story itself. When you talk about story itself, you are going beyond your line to disturb someone else's rights. If you are more concerned on the story itself (questioning that you didn't pay for a story like that but for entertainment) then you should also understand that no one asked you to watch the movie at first, you could ask around about story and reviews before going to a movie. I hope you get the essence of what I'm trying to say here. Nothing personal, just a feedback as a truly critic point of view.

Hi, Just wanted to point out that he clearly mentions " that the director can convey whatever message he chooses to convey " but just give us a good film. (even tho the term good is vague). It is a fair request to ask for a Rajnikanth movie because the millions of people who flock to the theater to watch this movie aren't going to watch the directors work of art.. atleast in this case, all they want to see is Rajnikanth in his prime form as a DON. why do u need to attach an image to the actor u ask ? well Kabali had a branding value est about 50 crores just for the "image" of the actor. The brand that is RAJINI. he has risen above an ordinary actor can dream of and has a reached a level where story has be crafted to fit him and not the other way around. Majority of the people who went to watch the movie want to a watch a rajni movie ( after 6 years) given that linga was a disaster and expected this as a comeback film but this one turns out be worst. Nobody gives a fk about reality or how the Malaysian people are suffering(as portrayed). flipping a cigarette 20 ft into the air and beating up 50 goons single handedly was something far-fetched from reality dont you think ? If these elements can be something out of the touch of reality, why can't the rest of the movie follow somewhat the same pattern. adding to that the movie was a let down from the technical point of view aswell, viewed as a common man standpoint who isn't a rajni fan or a has any knowledge of south Indian cinema. just a lesson for what happens when you let amateur directors to direct someone who he should've been lucky to meet in the first place and an excellent piece of marketing with deceptive teasers.(which only includes) the action scenes in the film coupled with the only racy track (neruppu da) which makes the fan wanting for more only to get trolled in the theater.

Friend, first of all I have no personal grudge against the reviewer. I simply felt that the review was completely in wrong aspect. A person who reviews the movie should review the movie as a movie rather than as a fan of the star who is acting in the movie. That is plain ridiculous view of going around a movie. Movie making is all about telling a story and the actor gets fit into that after the same. You can't say that the story is wrong because of the actor who appeared in the movie. May be you can say that Rajinikanth shouldn't act in movies like this. Please note that it was a conscious choice from Rajinikanth. Pa.Ranji was very clear on what he wanted to tell as a story through his film. A director's responsibility is to come up with some good story and not a story for an actor. If we continue to say that there is a stardom image attached to a actor and the stories should bend for him, then we cannot produce world class movie experience. That is why I say as a reviewer you should leave the actor behind and concentrate on the technical aspect of the story. what the reviewer says here is that the story itself is nonsense, which he doesn't have the rights to say. He could however say that the technical aspect of movie making for that story could have been this way or that way highlighting the flaws, rather he goes ahead to say that you shouldn't tell a story like this using an actor like this. A review should be about the director and the story of the movie and technical aspect of it and then coming down to how an actor has acted for such a story. But this reviewer is going from bottom to top, which is where he fails. In my humble opinion, pa.ranjith was asked to direct for Rajinikanth and not the other way around. If at all you feel that the story didn't fit the actor, you should actually blame rajinikanth for it for having decided to act on it which, as per your opinion, disappointed the fans of the star. I hope you see the point I'm trying to make. I'm not a fan of Rajinikanth or Ranjith. I'm simply a neutral critic and I see that this review is biased. That's all.

I thought more than the makers of the movie the hype was created by media, social media and business people taking advantage of the Rajini fever. While others struggle to create this kind of hype for every movie, this perhaps happened more organically through the goodwill the actor has amongst his fans. Setting this apart, the movie was excellent. There was no over doing of preaching and if there was it is very much relevant. The politics of the movie needs to be applauded. This is the worst review ever. This movie beautifully describes all the problems that Malaysian Tamils face in their life. It is packed with emotion, fights and a strong message. You only like "entertaining" movies without any story, as long as the movie is packed with a lot of fight scenes and comedy scenes and kuthu songs then that's a super hit movie but if someone tries something different by trying to share a real story then that's boring. Try to open your eyes and cultivate yourself on what's happening around the world. What is the best way to pass on a message to millions of people to raise awareness? Cinema is meant for entertainment and also education.

Many segments are in thalaivar audience and many audience/fans are here to watch "Mullum Malarum" super actor Rajini. Negatives highlighted in your review are exaggerated. Agreed screen play was slow and there are glimpses of casteism but it is not the main theme as you have said. Even the recently dead top Indian general Bipin Rawat held that China was the main enemy. He was from Uttarkhand, used to seeing Chinese jumping over agreed borders. This calculation of a Chinese villain was done like in Tik Tik Tik (that movie hilariously used non-Chinese actors as Chinese though) Around the world, Winston Chao is seen as a top Chinese actor with epic badass acting. I am not sure why most people here did not like him. Robotic drinking? This was like watching a Watch Dogs boss, scary as hell when goes around chopping people. In the original of "The Departed", the Hong Kong movie "Infernal Affairs", the opening scene has the boss lighting agarbathis as well. Kabali is a beautifully portrayed emotional love story of a Don, showing what all he lost in 25 yrs and how he gains back after coming from jail... After Thalapathy, Rajni sir has given his "the very best " here.. Every minute part of the movie is shown realistically!!!!! Director Ranjith sir has done a Fantabulous job! The MOVIE IS ENTIRELY DIFFERENT from what you have said!!!! My humble request to Prashant..Kindly don't give this kind of reviews! The ultimate effect of dis is..People like you are the biggest stumbling block for the growth of good, creative directors like Ranjith because of ur stamping perspective dat movies should be like this and should not have be like this... Exactly same feeling bro , I recently felt like want to see this movie and so I did. I felt like it's a such a classic top class hollywood range(if not atleast very nice cinematography) film. I came here youtube and shocked by everyone's review that everyone back in days have complained a lot about this film . And the mix of action + emotions with top notch cinematography is excellent. . Like oru 60+ vayasu aana aalu ponnu pondaati laa romba naal pirinji paakumbothu elame acceptable ah tha irukum . And ivanga Elam politics jaathi commercial entertainment nu kandathayum kekaranga . . I agree with the last gun blitz(could've been avoided) and the Lee speaking in Tamil( totally unnecessary). if you knew about Malay Tamil indentured labor history, you'd be able to relate lot more with the movie. A very good review Prasanth. Thanks for being honest. Why fake it? Why should people act like, we are not disappointed with Kabali? When coming out of the movie, everyone was surely disappointed with the movie. A honest Rajini fan will agree. This movie has a messed up story plot and an unnecessary list of actors from the "Madras" movie. Kabali is not an opportunity for the director to give chance for his friends to act with Rajini, it's a don classic. So the director should have done a lot better with action, plot twist and cinematography. Hasn't the director watched don/mafia movies before? Godfather, Goodfellas or anything like that? Audience are not cheap! So why should audiences act like we will appreciate mediocre movies, when real good tamil movies can be made in Tamil !

Kabali is good and as a movie i respect it a lot. The story felt very real, logical and was able to connect with Rajini's character, feel his emotions, presence etc. How many films in the past was it possible for the audience to feel connected with Rajini. Movies like Bhasha ,Padayappa Sivaji, its a joy to watch Rajini in certain scenes no matter how many times we watch it,But as a full length movie, i wouldn't want to waste time. But KABALI is one Rajini movie that i would like to watch in entire length every time and it will be one of those which i would I like buy a "Legal' DVD and watch it now and then. The only other Rajini movies i watch like that is "Thalapathi" & "Kodi Parakithu", plus a few other 80s & 90s movie. Prashanth bro. Somehow i am not able to accept your attitude in reviewing Kabili. This is your channel and your review and you have all the right to express your disappointment with the film. But I detest the attitude in which the entire review came out , it is plainly irritating and upsetting to watch. I respected you but you really disappoint me this time.

I think Prashanth and first day movie goers expects some four masala songs and four masala fights including one ITEM SONG. This is tamil movie for them. I think we are not mature enough to admire good movie like Kabali

Hello Mr Prsahanth, You are using your channel to advertise the IT company. How much for sure you know the facts about the company in placing the students in the job. Just because your are getting paid don't talk high about the company. What is their placement % ? In which companies they placed the students?
