here for all the english speakers, a rough translation/explanation: "Clown Dimitri" (1935-2016) was the most known swiss clown here in switzerland in his days. This film here is a shortened version of his sketch "Le Porteur" - "The Portier", from an event in 1988. The sketch itself which dates back to 1962 was Dimitri's oldest sketch. It revolves around different mysterious boxes and suitcases he's handling as a portier, and the exploring of them. It was at it's time the very top of clowning here in switzerland and very well reviewed in press and by publicum back then. This film was shown on swiss tv as a tribute after his death in 2016. There was many things he did in art: Theater (he founded some and also a Theatre school) painting, singing, writing, and a Familyshow with his whole Family. 4 of his 5 kids still work in theatre/circus.

i think the "trying hard to be funny" of course is part of what makes this clown interesting and fun. He´s like a child. It takes patience and heart, open your mind.

@alexandrebidaud32892 жыл бұрын

When nitwit's, don't understand/ get, the message behind this act, of his. There has to be negative comments. VERY SAD. ONE NEEDS, BALLS OF STEEL TO PERFORM, OF WHAT HE DOES, . HIS DEDICATION, TO MASTER/ PERFORM WAS HIS FREEWILL. TO GET HOME, BREAD. HONESTLY... THINK BEFORE, YOU PASS, NEGATIVE COMMENTS ON ANYONE... CHEERS, Dimitri. Regards...

I love all the "there is no slap-stick." "and, he is not funny" comments. The original clowns were not the goofballs that there are today. like, who is the other good one.. Avner the excentric .
@weebjeez5 жыл бұрын
Avner the Eccentric is fucking HILARIOUS, what you are talking about? That man is an absolute DELIGHT! This guy is very talented, I'll give you that. But he's CLEARLY going for laughs at some points, and applause at others... and the awkward silence between what was meant to be a trick and the applause he was waiting for (at times) is deafening. Like when he flipped the plate... Literally something anyone can do... he was clearly waiting for applause... And I thought he was doing it for effect: waiting for applause on an "easy trick" then doing something much more impressive (something that Avner is VERY GOOD at)... but he didn't. He just went on to the next part of the performance, with that being the clear "prestige" of the plate portion. But, the opening, with the guitar? Very good. Losing the pick, getting a new one, losing it again, getting a new one, all that... golden. He played it very well. His object work was ON POINT (I think he over-sold it, at times, but for the most part, on point). His plate-work? Absolutely fantastic, except towards the end, when he ditched the stick. I was very impressed with his work with the stick, in general, let alone once he started in with the plate. And what he did with the ball(s)? Forget about it. Absolutely masterful. But his random distractions, the things which should clue us into his character's personality and charm? They were bland. And boring. And uninspired. And they were things which someone might do to entertain a baby. And it made the whole act feel weaker. I feel like comparing him to Avner, as you did, is a disservice to them BOTH. While Avner is incredibly funny, he tends to focus more on the comedy (though his technical skill is nothing to balk at), so that makes sense. However, Dimitri clearly was more motivated to show off the technical skill of "clowing" and he did so masterfully, even though his stage persona had the personality of wet cardboard.

Brainscrew for the poor kids who could learn infinitely better things for life instead of laughing at others who do nonsense stuff, complete useless mental abuse of kids this is. If i had kids and such a clown approaches them, i would destroy the demon with just 3 words,
@bloodytusk9897 Жыл бұрын
