The movie didn't show srk n rani were right in their decision of cheating ..and tht wasnot the idea of the film or else dev wouldn't hv asked for forgiveness from riya at the end..... relationships if aren't from heart can be messy . This movie did say through many dialogues of riya and rishi that how wrong their partners were..but at the same time so were they..each of their relationship wasnot meant to be. Yes if maya has thought about it before marriage it would hv been ideal....but then agn no one is perfect n all the characters were flawed n thts how humans are.. neither rishi nor riya were perfect in keeping their partners happy..n hence it's ok to be out of a marriage but yes having an affair outside so wrong n they hv clearly showed it in the movie that maya n dev were wrong.

Not only that, they even moved on pretty well after that while Dev and Maya drowned in loneliness and sorrow for three years. That was their punishment. Dev loved his son but he didn't get to keep him. His own mother left him. Rhea also had no one. Her Father in law got a heart attack. She can't best children so yes, in a way it showed that Dev and Maya did atone for their mistakes. Biggest thing being, both their marriages failed because they never tried harder to keep it. And they do apologize to their partners. It would have been more perfect if they didn't reunite but that's fine either way cos they did bear the punishment and everyone deserves a second chance at new life (not old relationship).

I loved this movie, and personally find going through something similar in your own life can make one resonate with the emotions of the characters. I initially didn't understand Dev or Maya, but after going through failure, that too after being quite successful, is when characters began to make sense. The intrinsic realism captured through the imperfections of all 4 characters is perceivable. The similarity in the predicaments of both 'antagonists' opens a place where one can be oneself without judgement and is why the 'antagonists' are the protagonists of the film.

one of the cult movies of indian cinema. As this movie is about battle between individuality vs social restrictions. First of all, I must thank to brave director who believed this storyline. Ofcourse, it is hard to accept this story in india. So, director took USA as background. It looks absurd for most of the indians.But, this is one of the finest movies ever produced by india. Almost each and every scene and dailouge in this movie are important. If you watch this movie, with open mind you get it!! It is my favourite movie.
