I'm an aerospace engineer and I have some experience retrofitting and modernizing aircraft. The biggest portion of time is spent on the engineering itself and the first few planes where we work out the kinks. We may spend 2 years developing the engineering on paper, another 1.5 years refining the process by building one or two planes, but, after that, they can be popped out almost monthly.

The Missiles are fairly small and are inserted into these holes. Once armed, the Plane will fly over its target and the Missiles are launched downward from these holes to the target below.

The plane itself probably didn't cost anything since they are converted cargo planes if they had to buy the planes they probably are not all that expensive compared to other military aircraft as the plane has been built since the 60s. The cost probably comes from the equipment put into them.

The C-130's first flight was in 1954 and they're still building them. Wingspan is 132 ft (40.23m), max takeoff weight is 155,000 pounds (70,307kg). It can carry it's own weight in cargo (35,00kg). You should watch it take off with the rocket packs on each side (short field configuration). The Blue Angels C-130 does it at airshows. It also drops the MOAB.

They pivot or circle 360 degrees around a specific point of conflict, widening the circle some time and making it narrowing when called for. You put that many munitions on a single, small plot of land and everything will be blown to hades. The rain of fire comes from all 360 degrees so it's very hard to pin point the plane and fire at it. If you think the A10 Warthog is mighty, this thing carries a whole cargo plane worth of ammo. Often they stack them with one plane taking over for another when it's empty, giving the AC130 hours of sustained pressure on the enemy. The Iraqis could not bare it and surrendered en masse.

The newest would be about $150M a copy. 7:28 I'm sure Lockheed is shocked you would say 30. With the unified instrumentation it is probably about 30. Duplicated on both sides. But many gauges have many functions. In any one flight regime, you are only watching a few of those & glancing at the others sometimes. It isn't as hard as it sounds. On the old 'steam punk' instrument panels there were many more (maybe 100 - 120). Many of those are still on the flight engineer's panel.

The US is definitely better than other countries at naming areat naming aircraft. Ghostrider, Nighthawk, Phantom, Blackbird, Warthog, etc. And helicopters are native tribes... Chinook, Apache, Blackhawk, etc. Much more memorable than the generic number/letter designation everyone else does. We have those too, but number/letter designations just aren't as meaningful to most people. If you saw you did some work on a Warthog, people know what you mean much more than a MIG-35.

An-2 was 'Anushka' An-124 is Ruslan (Russian giant) An-225 is Mriya (Dream) The MiG-29 was sometimes called Strish (Swallow). MiG-21 - Хот-дог A-50 - Печенье MiG 15 - Гей MiG-17 - Левински Моника
