Beautiful Kacha, I did this about 6 mths ago but I added fabric softener mixed with my paint it made it smell lovely as well as helped the paint move easier.

I love the look of this chair & the process, but if someone is wearing white clothes, can they sit on this without having either wax or some of the color stain their white clothes? I’m only asking cos everyone I’ve seen that paints the fabric on chairs, usually sits on them while wearing dark jeans or just darker coloured clothing! Does anyone have experience with this please?

Kacha, I am so glad that you did a chair tutorial. I did my dining chairs three years ago with duck egg color. They have held up to daily use surprisingly well. If or when they show wear, I can always paint them again. I love everything that you do. Congratulations on your store. I hope you are blessed with more and more success!❤

@furnitureduchess9103 Жыл бұрын
I have painted a lot of fabric (and learned a lot along the way). Don’t be afraid to do it on chairs you use every day because they wear extremely well. Also try it with an all in one paint ( like DB’s Silk line) and you don’t need water and the fabric is much softer when you are done. The older the fabric, the more it will accept the paint evenly (and you may want to add a stencil or stripes on top, if it’s a problem) . Your chair turned out so lovely and the gold leaf is perfect. Good luck on your opening 🎉

@@furnitureduchess9103 How does the color not transfer to clothing when sitting on it?
@furnitureduchess9103 Жыл бұрын
@@lisajameson1077 it’s basically dyeing the fibers of the fabric. You are not putting a lot of paint on the material so it’s not sitting on top of the fabric where it can transfer to your clothes. I hope that makes sense but an example is when I paint, I need to remember to wear my painting clothes because once I get paint on them, it doesn’t come out (even in the wash). I have a couch that I painted a couple of years ago that we sit on daily and I promise you that the color has never transferred to anything else. Hope that helps!

Absolutely love it. Thanks so much for sharing ❤ I have done my high traffic lounge same shape as yours. A 2 seater and 2 1 seaters. But I didn't want the leather look. So after 2 coats and letting them dry I lightly sand papered them. They became soft again and I absolutely love them. They are duck egg so quite light and wear extremely well. I am so impressed and that was about 6 months ago. So for anyone wanting a fabric look and not leather skip the process of the wax and give a fine sand ❤

Adding a professional wax over the paint will keep it softer and more flexible, but yes the wax needs to "cure" for at least 45 days in my opinion! I've tried this before, using Annie Sloan wax and it will leave residue if you sit on it before its cured !

It was all great because I need to know. I have a chair very similar to the one you just did except it's much larger and fancier but it's got the same kind of fabric and the same kind of legs except they're very carved and I actually have gold leaf and the glue and I haven't used it yet and you just showed me the best way to get the best results and I can't wait to do this project. Wondering if your cleaner you used, if you used fabric dye in the water chamber would work quicker & easier? Which may also leave the fabric in a softer condition after it dries? How does chalk paint wash wear & tear after use? Would the paint wash be too stiff and crack when someone sits down?
