No longer a three-piece? They added a 2nd guitarist. I was always impressed by how full they managed to sound with just drums bass and one guitar. But yeah, gotta admit the doubled guitar lines sound incredible too.

I'm a total powertrio band fan. As a 3-man combo, the musicians' energy flows perfectly and this is transferred to the fan. Visually, 3-pieces also appear more rounded on stage. The second guitarist is "only" support....There is a huge list of 3-member bands: Nirvana, Primus, The Police, Nomeansno, Motörhead, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Jimi Hendrix Experience, Cream, Sebadoh, TransAm, Supergrass, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Green Day... The list is endless. But.... depending on the album or the expectations of the band, some parts can only be played with a four-person ensemble, at least if you want it to sound like the original recording.... You have to make compromises.
