@Astrophilist Saurashtra and Marathi came to Tamilnadu centuries back and they still call themselves as Saurashtra and Marathi in honour of their mother tongue. Tamils regardless of how long ago they migrated still call themselves Tamils in honour of their mother tongue.Telugus also should honour their mother tongue and call themselves Telugus. When a Telugu proudly calls himself as Reddy and Naidu why not call himself as Telugu ? I have found quite a few Telugus struggling to make sense of some ordinary Tamil words . It is because they speak Telugu at home , Telugu being their mother tongue which they learnt on their Telugu mother's lap. Only Malayalam came from Tamil . But Telugu and Kannada are not like that. Not only South Indian languages , but all Indian languages have some Tamil words , even Sanskrit. But Indians with different mother tongue from Tamil never claim they are Tamils except Telugus. Why dissemble ? Be true to thine own self as Shakespeare said. G. D. Naidu was a great man and Tamils have great respect for him and nobody needs to show him as a Tamil. G. D. Naidu himself , an honest forth right person would have never said he is a Tamil.
