Smart City will only help us in improving our living standards. We need it for sure, but what we need more is Industries and MNCs. That's how can the corporation collect taxes and locals needn't shift to Bangalore and other cities for employment. With international airport, port and highways the actual potential of our city is still uncapped. Mangalore has all the potential to be a metropolitan if such companies shift their bases here. DK and Udupi districts can be later unified and we also can have metro lines connecting both cities. As far as this kadri road is concerned like all other roads in Mangalore here too people park vehicles on the sides, and the actual width of commuting is cut by half. Footpaths are encroached by street food vendors. Sigh!!

Hi Sandesh, I fully appreciate and agree with your thoughts on Mangalore’s overall development.. With all the transport and communication facilities we lag in getting companies from whom income can be generated.. Our representatives lack zeal and will power in committing to our people except helping to build concrete jungles & roads & projecting the same as development! 😢 Kadri Park attracts thousands of visitors! But you can’t park more than 100 cars!! 🤔

Smart city concept and funds helped Tier-2 cities improve somewhat...however you pay for all this through taxes and GST/SGST..thats why cost of living has gone high😀..nothing for free..Mangaloreans have sacrificed 2 banks to gujratis....locally congress/bjp need money to make development...Modi's smart funds helped corporation to make improvement..not its own money...even congress would have done something or other in smart city funds....road and pwd contractors are same ..in business both congress and bjp are partners👯‍♀
