It was torture to watch XD like had had nice stacks, why play risky at that point !? AND i think he kinda misses the point in Q Build and lvl 1, its not about the dmg you get while doing quest, its the reward, plus the % dmg vs 2 AND lvl 20 upgrade, just the extra bit of burst you get to allready burst heavy keal that makes the lvl 1 quest good ! Like yes, i know the value is based on the situation and team comp, but it really has its place ! I have had some really good top dmg games w full Q build

Thing is, it’s just not a good talent. It only works well against lower health heroes who can’t sustain against that extra 200 damage, and even then it’s really only good early game if you can complete the quest in the first 3-5 minutes. In that case, the damage is actually really high and matters. Because it doesn’t scale, it doesn’t matter as much in the late game. It does get the benefit of applying twice with the flamestrike that goes off twice, but that only matters if both blasts hit. It has great potential, but as you play against higher tier players, convection gets less value as players know better how to dodge it and know to focus you down.

"Blind as a bat" have a CD reduction when landing the final swing on heroes, that's how he got it so soon, also, there is a %health talent for that specific hit of the Q, so Malganis can use it as a tell to know when he is hitting the enemies successfully so you spend less time hitting air not knowing.

The thing with convection is that you have to play very safe and prioritize stacks over other gameplay elements until you finish the quest. You can't play the way you normally would, even if that means doing less with the objectives. I think the people cry out for another try at this one.

In reviewing the critics of pally, the convection enjoyers as it were, the real benefit to flame strike is minion wave clear and objectives like braxis. This upside is rarely felt as you need to focus on flamestrike stacking rather than minion waves. This damage quickly peters out in effectiveness post level 10 you should be fine hitting waves. Although it can be nice on maps like braxis and hanamura where you fight over fixed point objectives. The significant downsides of losing stacks for deaths is absolutle lunacy making the talent a significant risk for okayish returns. Mana addict in contrast stacks your mana and also gives a fatty shields shoring up KT's two prime weaknesses his mana consumption and the fact he is a squishy backliner with no mobility ability. If the choice isn't clear or why pally didn't do this in the first video.... Its cos Pally the magnificent beast that he is rubbed about 3 brain cells together looking at the choice and chose correctly. Because it isn't a choice convection is shit.

To be fair, 200 more AOE damage early game is pretty big, but it drops off towards the late game. If you magically finish the quest at lvl1 it's a massive 58% increase, but even at lvl 10 it's only dropped to just below 40% extra damage. At lvl 30 it's only 17% though, so it's very much a talent you'd take for when the enemy team is likely to be clumped up a lot and you expect/need to win fast. For example vs. a Vikings comp it could be good, because you stack on the 4 man deathball and you'd wanna win before the Vikings manage to soak you out of the game anyway, so it's gonna be a noticeable damage increase.

At the end there at level 20 your Flamestrike is doing about 800 damage, 200 extra damage on top is a 25% increase. Honestly, that's not too bad ;)

To give credit where credit is due, 200 extra damage can matter when the flamestrike goes off twice and both hit, making it 400 damage and if you hit multiple heroes that can be an extra 800-1200+ damage on top of the % damage and base damage. It can be good. But against more skilled players, it just doesn’t make much difference compared to the other options. At my tier of play (plat to diamond) this talent isn’t used often and is something I’m happy to see a KT take if I’m against them. It gives my team an advantage as long as we can pressure him and keeps KT playing passively until he gets it.

Blind as a Bat reduces cooldown when you hit with the third strike. So if everyone just stands on you while you hit them while blind, you can almost have it off of cooldown before it ends...

Convection oven has one great aspect, Phycological. You can bait the other team to over extend with it. "he is hi stacks, Need to kill him before he gets it!!!" bait 3 of them to kill you and get three kills. get three kills for one death and your stacks that don't really matter... YES!

Yeah - I pulled up a talent calculator to do the math after the video too. It's not the best talent for sure - but 25% extra damage on a spell that can easily hit 3+ members of the enemy team (twice even!) is nothing to sneeze at. You just have to play cautious when you pick it until quest completion. Which ... someone ... did not.

Convection could use a rework... maybe make it multiple stage reward talent, where at 5 stacks, Q gives mana back on enemies hit, at 10 stacks, you no longer lose them after death, at 15 reduce mana cost of Q and at 20 get extra dmg spike on top of the baseline scaling. Or something like that. Alternatively only losing half of it on death like greymane could be cool, or make it a baseline talent that stacks infinitely and give 5 damage per stack then extra 50 damage per each 5 stacks. Overally though, I do quite agree that mocking a talent you're "showcasing", that you didn't even get to properly showcase due to not completing the quest wasn't fun. Especially against this team, where you had plenty of big low mobility targets to hit while having a relative safety on your team. It did showcase that losing the stacks is definitely quite punishing though and generally in most games you are definitely better off picking mana addict. Still, as KT main for some time now, going for Q build and not picking Convection somehow feels just weird. Especially since if you dont pick it, theres little reason to go Fury of the Sunwell at 16 instead of Ignite, since the poke from Ignite is almost like cheating.

I have never criticized the way you play Pally, but when you go this build, when you get to 15 stacks, you must become a paranoid sniper until you get to 20. Twice in that game you had over 15 stacks and continued to play with reckless abandon. I would have been upset with you as a teammate.

I watch Pally's HOTS videos since 2014 and I genuinely enjoy them. This is the first time ever I have disliked one of his video. Couldn't watch it till the end. Every third word making fun of Convection is too much . This felt so forced. The cherry on top was when he exited the mech under tower between 3 enemy heroes, so that he can die so that he can continue to make fun of this talent.

Hopefully, Blizzard sees this video and buffs Convection! Adding in 1% per stack, (so, 20% at 20 stacks) and quest the completion could give your empowered strikes deal 40% more damage.
